Hedra AI for ads

Verdict on Hedra

Hedra suits talking-character clips from a portrait and a voice track, if you budget for failed generations. Basic lists $20 a month on , and users report failed clips still use credits (11 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, Techpoint Africa). Paid plans read “Commercial use”, but the live terms do not say whether the 2024 clause barring ads without Hedra’s written consent still applies.

What Hedra makes for ads

Hedra’s Character-3 and Hedra Avatar models turn one portrait and an audio track into a talking or singing clip (Character-3 page). The audio drives the lip sync.

Both model pages give the same specification: a start frame plus required audio, and clips up to 10 minutes. Output runs from 540p to 1080p, in seven aspect ratios that include 9:16 and 1:1 (Hedra Avatar page).

For UGC-style ads, Hedra’s own gallery holds a “UGC Skincare Testimonial, Talking to Camera”. The clip shows a woman “speaking candidly to camera about her skincare results”, animated from “a single still portrait” (example page).

The Hedra Avatar page’s tips start from “a well-lit, front-facing headshot”, which “a model like Nano Banana 2” can generate first. The audio sets the length: “For a 3-minute video, provide exactly 3 minutes of audio.”

Hedra’s Creative Studio is an agent that “plans, generates, and edits across the best video, image, and audio models” (Studio page). The models page lists 53 video, 39 image and 12 audio models behind one API. Hedra’s pricing page claims “over 20 million users, developers, and businesses”.

How Hedra bills a talking clip

Hedra bills video by the length generated, and its plans publish no credit rate per second. The pricing FAQ gives one example: “if you generate a 10 second video with Character-3, you’ll only be charged for 10 seconds of video and not for a full minute”.

If every credit is used, a Basic credit costs 1.8 times an Ultra credit, and a Teams credit costs less than an Ultra one.

What one Hedra credit costs on each plan, if every credit is used, at prices listed 1 Oct 2026
Plan Price (USD a month) Credits a month Cost per credit (USD)
Basic $20 2,000 $0.01
Pro $50 7,200 $0.0069
Teams $75 14,400 $0.0052
Ultra $100 18,000 $0.0056

Scroll sideways for all 4 columns

Each row divides the plan’s price by its monthly credits, as listed on (pricing page). Ultra’s card also lists “Allowances up to 57,600 credits/month”, with no price for the extra credits. The price tracker sets Hedra’s plans beside other tools’ plans.

Hedra’s model pages publish a dollar rate per second for the API. Character-3 and Hedra Avatar each cost $0.025 a second at 540p, $0.05 at 720p and $0.0625 at 1080p (Character-3 page, Hedra Avatar page). Through the API, a 30-second clip at 720p costs $1.50.

The same $20 that buys Basic’s 2,000 credits a month (pricing page) buys 400 seconds at the 720p API rate (Character-3 page).

Monthly credits do not carry over: each cycle resets them “to your plan’s designated amount” (pricing FAQ). Credit packs bought on top “will not expire” and are spent only after the plan’s credits run out. Cancelling leaves “limited watermarked generations”, and pack credits wait for a new subscription.

Users report two costs the pricing page does not show. Failed or off-brief generations still use credits (11 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot). Entry plans buy only a few minutes of video (8 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, YouTube).

One five-star reviewer was quoted 3,100 to 3,200 credits for a 3:15 music video. The bill came to about 6,700, after regenerating clips the reviewer blames on Hedra’s errors (Trustpilot).

What Hedra’s terms allow in paid ads

Not legal advice This section quotes Hedra’s terms page, the 2024 text it linked before and the Acceptable Use Policy. Ask a lawyer before you rely on any reading here.

Every paid plan on Hedra’s pricing page lists “Commercial use”, Enterprise included. Hedra’s skincare testimonial example calls such a clip “the kind of authentic talking-head brands use for social ads” (example page).

Hedra’s terms page, last updated 4 September 2026, has no clause on running its output in ads. Its 3.6 reads in full: “Your use of the Service must comply at all times with Hedra’s Acceptable Use Policy and any applicable AI Services terms.”

On 31 August 2026 the same page was dated 25 October 2024 and carried a “Download Terms of Use” link to the full text (Wayback capture). In that PDF, 3.6 goes on to list what content and output must not do, ending with:

(F) involves commercial activities and/or sales, such as contests, sweepstakes, barter, advertising, or pyramid schemes without Hedra’s prior written consent.

Both versions of the web page print content clauses 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.6 and 3.8 only. The PDF runs 3.1 to 3.8. The update dated 4 September changed only the date and the PDF link, and added 6.2 on third-party integrations. The PDF is still online on 2 October 2026.

The live 15.10 calls the current text “the final, complete and exclusive agreement of the parties”, which “supersedes and merges all prior discussions”. The live page neither mentions the 2024 PDF nor says whether 3.6(F) still applies.

The Acceptable Use Policy that 3.6 points to, dated 31 July 2024 in its PDF, has no clause on ads either.

In the AI commercial use matrix, Hedra’s paid-ads row reads “Allowed with conditions”, on the 2024 clause and its written consent.

The live 3.3 grants Hedra a perpetual, irrevocable licence to your inputs and outputs, including to “derive revenue or other remuneration” from them. Its stated purpose is “operating and providing the Service to you and to our other users”. The grant is subject to “any applicable Account settings that may be made available to you”.

The 2024 text adds that Hedra and its AI providers may train models on your content and use it “for marketing and promotional purposes”.

Your face and voice in Hedra

Hedra’s Acceptable Use Policy bars input or output that “contains personal information related to any individual other than yourself”, including any media “containing individuals other than yourself”. Its one exception is “persons that died at least one hundred years ago”. The policy names no consent route for a hired creator or a client’s founder.

That leaves you or a generated face as the presenter, the route the Hedra Avatar tips describe.

The same policy bars using Hedra “to impersonate real entities or create fake personas (also known as “deepfakes”) to falsely attribute content or mislead others about its origin without consent or legal right”. It does not say whether a synthetic presenter in a labelled ad counts as a fake persona.

Where the law limits testimonials from people who do not exist: AI UGC legal rules.

Hedra’s Biometric Data Privacy Policy covers your own face and voice: it “may generate facial templates” from your photos and uses voice recordings “in order to create avatars” (effective 23 July 2024).

It asks for express written consent where Illinois BIPA, Texas CUBI or Washington HB 1493 require it, and keeps the data no longer than “three years following the user’s last interaction with Hedra”.

Is Hedra legit? What its terms and Trustpilot show

Hedra Inc. publishes dated terms and a notice address. Trustpilot shows a 1.7 TrustScore from 64 reviews, 79 per cent one-star.

The terms send disputes to binding individual arbitration (14.1, 14.5), with an opt-out by written notice within 30 days (14.11). Liability is capped at the greater of three months’ fees, $100 or, where a statute sets one, its remedy or penalty (10.2).

Trustpilot showed those figures on 2 October 2026, on a profile Hedra claimed in May 2025. Its note reads “This company hasn’t invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative.” Product Hunt carries no Hedra reviews, and searches on 28 September 2026 found no G2 or Capterra page.

Hedra pros and cons

Pros

  • Lip sync and expression can look strong, singing included, when a generation works (7 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, YouTube)

  • Simple to use, with all its models in one workspace (4 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, Techpoint Africa)
  • Quick answers and a guided product tour from support, for some users (3 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot)

Cons

  • Faces drift, hands look wrong and lip sync slips from one generation to the next (13 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot)
  • Failed or off-brief generations still use credits; credits back are rare (11 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot)
  • Auto-renewals with refunds refused, even for an unused period (11 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot)
  • Support slow or scripted, and hard to reach (8 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot)

How HeyGen, Captions and Arcads differ from Hedra

All three publish a credit rate by length, which Hedra’s plans do not. Each also allows someone else’s likeness with their consent or rights, which Hedra’s policy bars.

HeyGen publishes a credit rate per minute for each avatar model and Look, from 4 to 48 (credits article). On Creator at $29 a month, a 30-second Avatar III Video Look video costs $0.10 if every credit is used (pricing page, ).

In the rights matrix, HeyGen’s paid-ads rows on Creator, Pro and Business read “Allowed with conditions”. An avatar of someone else needs their explicit consent; if they ask for removal, you take it down wherever you published it (Moderation Policy 2.1). More in the HeyGen profile.

Captions bills Prompt to Video at 16 credits every 6 seconds and uses credits whether or not a project is exported (AI usage article). On Max at $24.99 a month, 30 seconds cost $4.00 if every credit is used (pricing page, ).

In the rights matrix, every Captions paid-ads row reads “Allowed with conditions”. Each identifiable person in your input must consent in writing and release you and Mirage from liability (Captions Terms 3.2). See the Captions profile.

Arcads bills 800 credits a minute per actor, and “Length is always rounded up”: its example bills 1 minute 45 seconds as 2 minutes (help centre). It publishes no price list.

In the rights matrix, Arcads’ paid-ads row reads “Allowed with conditions”. For an uploaded video of someone else, you must hold their image and personality rights, Arcads’ own training and promotion included (13.4). See the Arcads profile.

Questions buyers ask about Hedra

Is Hedra free?

On 2 October 2026 the pricing page listed no free plan or limits, though its title reads “Free Plan, No Credit Card” and its hero “Start free, upgrade anytime”. After cancelling a paid plan, the FAQ leaves “limited watermarked generations”.

Can you use Hedra videos in ads?

Paid plans read “Commercial use”, and the live terms (4 September 2026) carry no clause on ads made with Hedra. The 2024 text required “Hedra’s prior written consent” for advertising, and the live page does not say if that still applies. The Acceptable Use Policy also bars media showing anyone but you, unless they died at least 100 years ago.

Does Hedra refund an auto-renewal?

Users report renewals with refunds refused (11 of 45 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot). The live terms renew a subscription “at Hedra’s then-current price” (7.3(a)). Under the 2024 text, “all Fees for the Service” are non-refundable except as it sets out (7.2), and cancelling earns no “prorated refund” (7.3(a)).
