Anthropic, the company behind the Claude chatbot, told prospective shareholders on Wednesday 14 October 2026 that its revenue reached $16.8 billion in the third quarter, Yahoo Finance reports, citing the Financial Times. The company also said it turned a profit on an adjusted basis, a measure that leaves some costs out.

The figures came at a closed investor day at the company’s San Francisco headquarters. Chief executive Dario Amodei and finance chief Krishna Rao met people weighing a stake before the stock market listing, Reuters reports via CNA. Two attendees put the rise from the second quarter at 45 per cent. One example shown to attendees was a custom chip that Anthropic’s own AI helped design.

The reports leave two things open: whether the figure is gross or net revenue, and how Anthropic defines adjusted profit, SiliconANGLE notes. Investors watch these numbers because Anthropic’s listing is an early read on how public markets value an AI lab that spends heavily on chips and data centres. Reuters has reported that the debut is likely to wait until after the US midterm elections in November.

For businesses that build on Claude, their supplier has told investors it made an adjusted profit for the first time, according to SiliconANGLE.
