Luma’s rates come from its pricing page and Runway’s from its compare table (Luma pricing, Runway pricing). Runway’s row names no resolution. For Kling against other models on cost a second, see Google Veo vs Kling and Kling vs Runway.
Two resellers state no rate a second. Krea counts 26 Kling 3.0 videos a month on Basic without a clip length. Higgsfield shows the cost only on its Generate button (Higgsfield vs Kling).
What is the cheapest place to use Kling 3.0?
At list price, for 1080p with audio, Luma Ultra: $0.098 a second if every credit is used, against $0.168 on Kling’s API. Ultra costs $300 a month, so the saving needs volume.
Luma Plus at $30 a month beats Kling’s standard 3.0 API rate ($0.168) but not its Turbo rate ($0.14); Pro and Ultra beat both (Luma pricing).
The ad terms differ by route:
- Luma: Kling’s terms do not say whether a Luma subscriber counts as a member, so which Kling clauses govern the clip is unclear (rights matrix).
- Kling API: the rights matrix marks paid ads unclear for API output (rights matrix).
- Kling membership: members’ commercial use “is not restricted” (paid terms 3.1.2).
- Top-up with no membership: written permission needed (terms 4.6).
- Runway: its terms (4.4) do not restrict commercial use; whether Kling’s terms also reach the clip is unclear.
Is Kling AI free?
Kling publishes no fixed free allowance: its Credits Policy gives daily login credits only “During the event”, in amounts “subject to platform announcement” (Credits Policy). 1080p, watermark removal and fast-track generation are “premium-only functions”.
Fast-track generation is premium-only, so free and top-up accounts wait in the shared queue (Credits Policy). Users report waits of up to an hour (5 of 37 sources: Reddit, Trustpilot).
Who has to show the Kling brand?
Everyone without a membership. Terms 4.5 say that, “without our written permission”, users “shall label” output with the Kling brand, or “prominently indicate that the Output is generated by ‘Kling AI’” where no mark shows (terms).
Paid terms 7.2 give “each member” the right of “removing brand watermarks from their generated images, videos and other content” (paid terms). Top-up credits alone do not make you a member.
Costs the plan card leaves out
Membership credits are “valid for 1 month from the date of distribution”; purchased credits last two years, and the shorter-lived ones go first (Credits Policy). API packages clear on expiry: “Unused resource package balance does not carry over” (API pricing).
1080p and watermark removal are member-only, so a non-member’s top-up buys 720p clips with the brand. The API’s pricing page says only that “Failed image generations will not deduct any unit”; in the app, the Credits Policy refunds failed generations.
Users still report credits going fast: failed and rerolled takes charged, unused credits expiring monthly, credits missing (10 of 37 sources: Reddit, Reddit).
Cancelling Kling and refunds
Fees are final once activated: “the fee paid for the Paid Service is non-refundable” (paid terms 6.2.4, paid terms). Cancel where you subscribed: on the web, or in Apple’s or Google’s store for an app subscription.
Users report charges continuing after cancelling, cancelling sent between web, Apple and Google, and refunds refused as virtual goods (8 of 37 sources: Reddit, Reddit).
Work out your own cost
At the API rate, a 15-second ad built from three 5-second clips costs $2.52 at 1080p with audio (API pricing). On Luma Plus it costs $2.21, if every credit is used. The cost per AI ad calculator adds hook variants and the share of takes you keep.
Where to compare Kling’s cost
The Kling profile covers its models and terms beyond price. Google Veo pricing, Runway pricing and Higgsfield pricing price the routes around it, and the price tracker row sets Kling beside every tool.
