What each makes for ads

AdCreative.ai makes ad banners in platform sizes, ad copy and product photoshoots from a brand kit, each with a predicted click-through and brand recall score. Those scores are the vendor’s claim (homepage). Its Creative Insights reads Meta, Google, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Microsoft ad accounts, and names no TikTok link.

Canva puts AI generation and photo edits inside the editor you lay ads out in, with bulk resizing on Pro. Its Pro page (archived copy of 27 September 2026) sells Canva Grow as “AI ad creation”: paste your website URL and it pulls your brand visuals into ads. The MagicBrief team built Canva Grow after Canva bought MagicBrief in June 2025.

None of the 28 Canva sources reports on publishing from Canva Grow or its performance insights. On the generators both vendors sell, users report rework. Canva’s AI designs look generic and need rework in 8 of 28 sources (Reddit, Reddit). On AdCreative.ai, 9 of 34 sources call the output inconsistent or generic, one G2 reviewer putting it at “only around 30% are actually usable” (G2, Trustpilot).

How each bills, and what one ad costs

Starter at $39 a month buys 10 credits, so one download costs $3.90 if every credit is used (AdCreative.ai plans, checked ). The pricing FAQ says “credits are only consumed when you download them”. Terms 1.3 say generating “may” use credits too.

Canva’s AI Product Terms call AI usage limits “operational controls and not fixed entitlements”. More usage is sold as an AI Top-Up Add-On. Every tier for both: the price tracker and AdCreative.ai pricing.

Who owns the ads, and can you hand them to clients?

Not legal advice This section quotes AdCreative.ai’s and Canva’s terms with their dates and reads them as an ad buyer would. Ask a lawyer before you rely on any reading here.

Canva’s terms grant you the output in writing on every plan, Free included; AdCreative.ai’s self-serve terms contain no such grant.

Canva’s AI Product Terms (effective 26 June 2026, archived copy of 21 September) say “you own your Output, except for any Output that modifies or incorporates Licensed Content”, and “You may use your Output for any lawful purpose”. An AI edit of a Canva library photo stays under the library licence.

For client work, Canva’s Content License Agreement (archived copy of 21 September 2026) 4A asks for “a written agreement with your client” limiting use to that client. Section 9 bars library content “in ads or promotional materials for adult entertainment clubs or similar venues, or for escort, dating or similar services”, and in political endorsements.

AdCreative.ai’s subscriber terms (19 December 2025) give access “solely for Customer’s internal business purposes” (2.1). Clause 7.3 keeps AdCreative.ai’s ownership of “any work derived from the use of this Services”. The terms name no ownership of generated ads for subscribers, and do not say whether making ads for a client counts as an internal purpose.

Only the Enterprise terms add: “the Projects generated by the Services based on the Contents provided by the Client will be owned by the Client.” Both, clause by clause: AdCreative.ai and Canva in the rights matrix.

Training, trials and refunds

AdCreative.ai uses your data for training under its terms; Canva leaves it to a setting. AdCreative.ai’s trial converts to a paid plan with discretionary refunds.

Clause 10.1 lets AdCreative.ai use your account’s Ad Data for “refining algorithms” and “training” its AI, on every plan. Canva’s Terms of Use (archived copy of 23 September 2026) 4.a say “Your Privacy Settings allow you to control whether your general usage data and/or User Content can improve AI-powered features.”

AdCreative.ai’s homepage offers a “7 day free trial. Cancel anytime.” Refunds under 4.7 need a written request within 7 days of subscribing (30 for annual plans), and only for a service not used. The FAQ counts generating creatives as use. Clause 4.2 asks for cancellation 7 days before a monthly cycle ends.

18 of 34 AdCreative.ai sources report the trial taking a card and converting to a charge of $249 to $500 a month, some found months later (G2, Reddit). 5 of 34 say support refunded the charge once contacted (Trustpilot).
