Kling AI for ads
Verdict on Kling AI
On paper, Kling’s app suits ads only on a paid membership, whose credits expire after a month. Members can use output commercially and remove Kling’s brand (paid terms 3.1.2, 7.2); non-members need written permission (terms 4.6), despite Kling’s advertising FAQ saying otherwise. Membership prices could not be read on , and whether membership lifts terms 3.1(e)’s written-consent rule for “commercial” use is unclear.
Kling AI
- Best for
- Paying members making 3 to 15-second product clips with native audio who spend each month’s credits before they expire.
- Skip it if
- you have no membership, even with bought credits: terms 4.6 bar commercial use without Kling’s written permission. Runway’s terms (4.4) do not restrict commercial use of outputs on any plan.

What Kling makes for ads
Kling AI, from Kuaishou, turns a prompt or a product photo into a video clip. Kling 3.0 clips run 3 to 15 seconds with native audio, and the 3.0 guide lists Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and Spanish speech.
The guide pitches Kling 3.0 at “e-commerce advertising”. It says the model keeps text from an uploaded image, “such as signs, captions, or logos”, which matters for a packshot with a label.
For UGC-style ads, Kling also sells an Avatar tool: upload a character image and a voice track, and it returns a lip-synced talking video. The API bills it at $0.112 a second at 1080p (developer pricing).
What a Kling clip costs
A 5-second Kling 3.0 clip at 1080p with audio costs $0.84 on the API and $0.91 at the top-up price, for members. Kling bills video by the second: 12 credits a second at 1080p with native audio, 9 at 720p (3.0 guide). Credits cost 66 to the dollar at the standard price, and 1080p is “premium-only” (Credits Policy).
| Route and resolution | Per second (USD) | 5-second clip (USD) | 10-second clip (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| API 1080p | $0.168 | $0.84 | $1.68 |
| Top-up credits 1080p, members only | $0.182 | $0.91 | $1.82 |
| API 720p | $0.126 | $0.63 | $1.26 |
| Top-up credits 720p | $0.136 | $0.68 | $1.36 |
Scroll sideways for all 4 columns
Method: top-up cost = credits a second × seconds ÷ 66; API cost = the listed rate × seconds. API ad rights are unclear: see the terms section.
At 720p, Kling 3.0’s API costs about a quarter more a second than Sora 2’s did (Sora 2 shut down).
Membership credits are “valid for 1 month from the date of distribution”; purchased credits last 2 years, and the shorter-lived credits are spent first (Credits Policy). API units come in resource packages whose unused balance “will be cleared upon expiration” (developer pricing).
Fees are final: once a membership or credits are activated, “the fee paid for the Paid Service is non-refundable” (paid terms 6.2.4).
Do Kling’s terms let you use its output in ads?
Members can, on paper (paid terms 3.1.2); without a membership, terms 4.6 require Kling’s written permission, though Kling’s advertising FAQ says otherwise. A credit top-up alone does not make you a member: credits “cannot be exchanged for value-added services such as services for Membership” (Credits Policy 6).
Kling members
The Terms of Paid Service list among the benefits of a membership “during the Validity Period” (3.1.2):
KLING AI members’ use of the Output for commercial purposes is not restricted. You are permitted to use, reproduce, distribute, make modifications to, and create derivative works of, the Output for any commercial purpose(except for the purposes of developing or offering competitive products or services of KLING AI).
When a membership ends without renewal, “you will not be able to continue to have the corresponding membership benefits” (3.1.5). Whether clips made as a member can keep running in ads after that is unclear on our reading.
Without a Kling membership
For everyone else, the Terms of Service (4.6) say: “without our written permission, you may not use, reproduce, distribute, and create derivative works of, and make modifications to, the Output for any commercial purposes.”
Kling’s own advertising page says the opposite. Asked about “e-commerce store or social media ads”, its FAQ answers: “All videos generated on Kling (including on the free tier) can be used for commercial purposes.” It cites no clause. On our reading the terms govern, so a free-account ad still needs that written permission.
The Kling brand on your clips
Section 4.5 says that, “without our written permission”, users “shall label” output with the Kling brand. Where output carries no brand mark “due to objective reasons”, “you shall prominently indicate that the Output is generated by ‘Kling AI’”, for example in the title. Paid terms 7.2 restate that duty for non-members only.
The same section says “each member holds exclusive rights and interests of removing brand watermarks from their generated images, videos and other content”. On our reading, the duty to show the brand falls on free and top-up accounts, and members can remove it.
Kling clauses 3.1(d) and 3.1(e)
Terms 3.1(d) bar using the Services “to advertise or perform any commercial solicitation without our written consent”. Terms 3.1(e) bar using them “without our written consent, for any political, commercial or unauthorized purpose, including building conversations for political campaigning or advocacy or lobbying purposes, communicating or facilitating any commercial advertisement or solicitation or spamming”.
Paid terms 7.1 require members to follow that whole section, so 3.1(d) and 3.1(e) reach them too. Whether the members’ grant in 3.1.2 overrides them is unclear on our reading. A breach ends your authorisation “with immediate effect” (terms 14.2(b)).
The Kling API
The API runs under separate Terms of API Service, which render in the browser and could not be read on 24 September 2026. Whether API output can run in ads is unclear.
Kling’s licence to train and promote
Terms 4.7.3(f) let it process your inputs to “train” its models. It also takes a licence to your inputs and outputs (4.7.1) and can use them “for the purposes of promotion”, directly or through licensed third parties (4.7.2). You can revoke that use by emailing support (4.7.4). Every tool’s clause for each plan sits in the rights matrix.
Where Kling is resold, and at what price
Luma charges 49 credits a second for Kling 3.0 at 1080p with audio (pricing page, prices checked ). If you use every credit, each priced Luma plan sells it below Kling’s API rate, billed monthly or yearly.
| Route | Per second (USD) | 10-second clip (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Kling API | $0.168 | $1.68 |
| Luma Plus | $0.147 | $1.47 |
| Luma Pro | $0.11 | $1.10 |
Scroll sideways for all 3 columns
Method: Luma cost = 49 credits a second × the plan’s monthly price ÷ its monthly credits: Plus $30 a month for 10,000 credits, Pro $90 a month for 40,000 (pricing page).
Kling’s API sells Kling 3.0 Turbo at 1080p with audio for $0.14 a second (developer pricing), and Luma charges the same 49 credits for it. So for Turbo, Luma Plus billed monthly costs more than Kling’s API, and every other priced Luma plan costs less.
Luma’s terms allow commercial use only of outputs “produced during an active Subscription Term under Customer’s paid subscription”. They also make third-party models “subject to the third party’s terms and conditions and not this Agreement”.
Kling’s terms do not say whether a Luma subscriber counts as a member. So which Kling clauses govern a clip made on Luma is unclear on our reading. If the non-member terms apply, commercial use needs Kling’s written permission (4.6).
Runway also resells Kling 3.0, at 17 credits a second for “Kling 3.0 Pro” with audio (pricing page, ). On Standard at $15 a month for 625 credits, that is $0.41 a second if every credit is used, more than twice Kling’s API rate.
Runway’s Terms of Use name no separate rules for other makers’ models, so whether Kling’s terms also reach a Kling clip made there is unclear.
Higgsfield lists Kling 3.0 among its models, and its terms (section 8) make a model provider’s “acceptable-use or prohibited-use policies” govern “where those policies are more restrictive”. Its pricing page carried no plan prices in its HTML on 24 September 2026, so no per-second figure is given.
Arcads charges 176 to 560 credits per Kling 3.0 generation (help centre). Its plans show no public price, so no dollar figure follows.
Every plan in our database, Kling’s included, sits in the price tracker.
Pros and cons on paper

- Members can remove the Kling brand, paid terms 7.2 (paid terms)
- Per-second billing from 3 to 15 seconds, so a 5-second hook bills 5 seconds (3.0 guide)
- Failed generations refunded in the app and not charged on the API (Credits Policy, developer pricing)
Cons
- Membership credits last one month from issue (Credits Policy)
- Commercial use is a member benefit “during the Validity Period”, paid terms 3.1.2 (paid terms)
- Non-members barred from commercial use without written permission, terms 4.6; Kling’s advertising FAQ says otherwise (terms, FAQ)
- Terms 3.1(d) and 3.1(e) need written consent to use the Services “to advertise” or for any “commercial” purpose; whether membership lifts that is unclear (terms)
- Fees non-refundable once activated, paid terms 6.2.4 (paid terms)

How Google Veo and Runway differ from Kling
Google Veo bills by the clip on Flow, where Kling bills by the second. A Veo 3.1 Fast clip of 4 to 8 seconds takes 20 Flow credits (Flow credits help).
Google AI Pro at $19.99 a month buys 1,000 monthly credits, so a clip costs $0.40 if all 1,000 are used (Google AI plans, ). The 50 free daily credits lower that.
Google’s terms say “Google won’t claim ownership over that content” and name no ad limit either way, so ad use of Veo clips made in Flow is unclear on our reading. More in the Google Veo profile.
Runway’s terms tie commercial use to no plan (4.4): “Subject to your compliance with the Agreement, the Company does not restrict your commercial use of your Outputs.” The same clause gives Runway a licence to train on your inputs and outputs.
Runway’s own Gen-4.5 works out at $0.29 per second of video on Standard at $15 a month, if every credit is used (pricing page, prices checked ). See the Runway profile.

Questions buyers ask about Kling AI
Can you run ads from a free Kling account?
Not without Kling’s written permission, say terms 4.6, though Kling’s advertising FAQ says free-tier clips “can be used for commercial purposes”. Output made without a membership must also carry the Kling brand or a notice, unless Kling agrees otherwise in writing (paid terms 7.2).
Does Kling AI put a watermark on videos?
Yes, without a membership. Watermark removal is a member benefit (paid terms 3.1.2), and the Credits Policy calls it “premium-only”.
Can I use Kling AI for UGC ads?
On a membership, the paid terms allow commercial use, and the Avatar tool makes lip-synced talking videos from an image and a voice track. Terms 3.1(d) and 3.1(e) bar using the Services “to advertise” or for any “commercial” purpose without written consent, and whether membership lifts that is unclear.

What changed on this page
- The verdict now says Kling’s advertising FAQ disagrees with terms 4.6 on free-account commercial use.
- Added the FAQ on Kling’s advertising page, which says free-tier videos can be used commercially, beside terms 4.6. Scoped the Veo ad-use line to Flow, and marked as unclear whether Kling’s terms reach a Kling clip made on Runway.
- Written as a research edition. Kling’s terms, Credits Policy, 3.0 guide and API prices, and Luma’s prices and terms, read that day.
