Anthropic’s Claude Duet works in your apps while you are away
The new agent app sends a morning brief, watches email, calendars and business tools, and asks before it pays, sends or deletes anything.
Anthropic launched Claude Duet on Wednesday 21 October 2026, a separate app that turns Claude into an agent, AI that goes and does the work you hand it. It is a research preview for Pro and Max subscribers in the US, who join a waitlist, and it runs on iOS, Android and claude.ai, Anthropic says.
Anthropic pitches it at small business owners and busy professionals. You get a summary of your connected apps every morning; after that, Duet looks in on them every few hours and pings you when something needs your say. Larger jobs run on a virtual computer that Anthropic hosts, with its own browser, so nothing has to stay switched on at your end. Anthropic’s examples run from setting up a Shopify store to a Canva social campaign or a sales forecast.
Anything with consequences waits for you: Duet shows a payment, an outgoing message, a signature or a deletion before it happens, and goes ahead only on your yes. Moving money between accounts and trading securities stay off-limits whatever you say. Its work counts towards your plan’s usage limits, and Team and Enterprise plans are not covered yet, 9to5Mac reports.
Its rivals are OpenAI’s Dots and Meta’s Muse, The Verge notes; Duet itself is built on Claude Opus 5.5. Anthropic warns that, at this stage, Duet can get the urgency of a thread wrong.
For a small brand, Duet hands the day’s admin to software that keeps going after the owner logs off.
