Apple’s first smart display puts Siri AI on the kitchen counter
The $299 HomeView recognises up to six faces and pulls personal answers from each owner’s iPhone.
Apple unveiled the HomeView, its first smart display, at an event in New York on Tuesday 13 October 2026. The 7-inch square screen costs $299 with a speaker base or as a wall-mounted model, and deliveries start on 13 November. Apple hand-picks every app, and Netflix and other video services are absent at launch, Wired reports.
You mostly talk to it. Siri AI, the rebuilt assistant that arrived with iOS 27, runs the device. A camera recognises who is standing in front of the screen, and the display then switches to that person’s layout, messages and calendar. For anything personal, the owner’s iPhone, a model with Apple Intelligence, must also be on the home Wi-Fi. Apple says the face and voice data are processed on the device, out of reach of apps, The Verge reports.
A household can set up six profiles at most, and everyone in the home can use shared photo albums and music. Siri AI has no EU launch, so neither does the HomeView, 9to5Mac reports. Apple says it is in talks with the EU about a solution.
For advertisers, the HomeView adds one more screen where people reach services by asking an assistant.
