Facebook lets you tell its feed what you want in plain words

Meta brings Instagram’s Your algorithm tool to Facebook and gives language models a bigger role in ranking posts.

Facebook users can now type what they want to see more or less of in Feed and Reels, Meta said on Tuesday 13 October 2026. The tool, called Your algorithm, sits in the three-dot menu on every post, and recommendations change straight away, Meta says.

Instagram got the same tool earlier this year, and Threads runs its own version, called Dear Algo, The Verge reports. Marking a post Interested or Not interested can now bring up a short question from Facebook. You reply by typing why, in your own words.

Behind it, Meta is giving large language models, the technology behind chatbots, a bigger job in ranking. Ranking has so far read your behaviour, from likes and comments to viewing time, among thousands of signals. Language models add the wishes you type to that picture, so the feed can shift before you close the app, Meta says.

For brands on Facebook, a post that matches an interest people have typed in now has a second way into Feed and Reels.
