Gemini in your car can now read your Gmail and calendar
Google is adding Personal Intelligence to Gemini on Android Auto, so drivers who opt in get answers drawn from their own apps; cars with Google built-in are next.
Google started rolling out Personal Intelligence for Gemini on Android Auto on Tuesday 20 October 2026, the company says. The feature lets the assistant answer questions from your own Google apps while you drive. Android Auto is the phone app that puts maps, music and messages on a car’s screen.
Once you switch it on, Gemini can draw on Search, YouTube, Maps, Photos, Calendar and Gmail. The Verge gives Google’s examples: ask whether your flight is on time and Gemini finds the booking in your email, or ask it to take you to a car wash you photographed last week.
You decide whether any of this happens. Google says the feature is off by default and you choose which apps it reads. In cars with Google built-in, answers are personal only while your phone is connected. The rollout covers personal accounts of adults aged 18 and over, and leaves out the UK, the European Economic Area, Switzerland and Nigeria, Google adds.
Cars with Google built-in, where Google’s software comes installed in the vehicle, are due to get the feature over the next few months, Google says. Personal Intelligence first reached US users in March and is in beta in other markets, TechCrunch reports.
For local businesses, Gemini can now suggest a stop along a driver’s route that matches that driver’s usual tastes.
