Meta hires MongoDB’s chief to sell its AI to businesses
CJ Desai leaves MongoDB to run Meta Enterprise Platform, which bundles Muse, a coding agent, a WhatsApp agent and an API.
Meta has created Meta Enterprise Platform, a unit that sells its AI to companies. To lead it, Meta hired Chirantan “CJ” Desai, chief executive of the database company MongoDB. The company announced both on Monday 28 September 2026, TechCrunch reports.
Four products come first. Muse Agent is the business version of the assistant. Muse Code splits big programming jobs across several subagents. Meta Business Agent answers customer questions on WhatsApp, and the Muse API opens Meta’s models to developers.
The announcement gives no prices. Meta says a Muse Confidential VM arrives later in 2026. It walls off each customer’s instance so that Meta itself cannot read it, SiliconANGLE reports.
Desai becomes chief enterprise platform officer after 11 months at MongoDB. MongoDB’s stock lost more than 18 per cent on the news, SiliconANGLE adds. Dev Ittycheria, its chief executive for 11 years before him, returns on an interim basis.
The unit follows the consumer launch of Muse on 8 September.
For advertisers already on Meta, the company that sells them reach now also sells the agents that answer their customers and write their code.
