Meta plans to raise $95 billion in shares for its AI build-out
Meta plans to sell $35 billion of stock first and $60 billion more over time, days after reporting $63.06 billion of quarterly ad revenue.
Meta said on Monday, 26 October 2026, that it plans to raise $95 billion by selling shares, to pay for AI data centres and the work it calls superintelligence. The first $35 billion comes through underwritten public offerings. A further $60 billion follows through an at-the-market programme, which sells shares into the market gradually, CNBC reports. Up to $5 billion of the shares could go to three chipmakers, Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom, which Meta says have shown interest.
Meta names three uses: its data centre business, the Muse AI agent and its family of apps. It now expects to spend $135 billion to $145 billion on capital projects this year.
Advertising is almost all of Meta’s income. In the third quarter, Meta’s ad revenue grew 26% to $63.06 billion out of $64.6 billion in total, PPC Land reported on 22 October.
Meta’s AI tools for advertisers sit inside Ads Manager: new backgrounds, image expansion, text variations and image-to-video. Meta’s own posts state no separate fee for them; you pay for the ads. Our guide to Meta’s AI creative tools and our tool entry, from Meta posts read on 23 September 2026, record the same.
Because those AI ad features carry no price of their own, whatever they earn Meta from this $95 billion comes through what advertisers pay in its auctions, the source of about 98% of its revenue.
