Nscale said to discuss a second $45 billion Anthropic deal
People familiar with the talks say the deal would fill a second building at Nscale’s West Virginia campus with Nvidia Vera Rubin chips.
Data centre firm Nscale is negotiating a second deal worth about $45 billion with Anthropic, Bloomberg reported on Monday 19 October 2026, citing people familiar with the talks. According to a source who spoke to Reuters, in a report carried by CNA, the talks cover a second building at Nscale’s Monarch campus in West Virginia, where Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chips would draw 460 megawatts.
This would be the pair’s second contract of that size. The first, signed in August, rents Anthropic $45 billion of computing on the same site, and Reuters’ source says the Claude maker already has first call on a third building there, on terms that may still shift.
Each company plans to sell shares to the public, and some investors are resisting Nscale’s price tag of about $30 billion, Bloomberg reported, according to TechCrunch. Signed contracts at Nscale are now worth more than $103 billion, up from $100 million two and a half years ago, Reuters says. Microsoft pulled out of anchoring Nscale’s site in Essex, England, as we reported on 19 October.
For businesses that build on Claude, the size of these contracts shows how much computing Anthropic is lining up to meet demand.
