TypeSafe raises $870 million for its Jev decision model
Andreessen Horowitz leads the round at a $7.5 billion valuation, less than a month after Jev’s release on 15 September.
TypeSafe AI, the company behind the Jev model, announced a Series A on Friday 9 October 2026, led by Andreessen Horowitz, with Sequoia and existing investor DCVC taking part. The round raises $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation, TechCrunch reports. Jev came out on 15 September.
Jev runs on a transformer but is not a language model. It does not write text: it answers a yes-or-no question, picks an item from a list or returns a score, and attaches a confidence figure to its scores and picks, SiliconANGLE reports. TypeSafe says Jev answers in under 700 milliseconds, runs up to 200 times faster and 100 times cheaper than some frontier language models, and is used by about a third of the Fortune 500.
Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI researcher, founded the company in 2024 with former Meta research engineer Sasha Sheng and engineer Erik Gafni, TechCrunch reports. TypeSafe says the money goes on more models in its System One series and on features for large companies.
For marketing teams, the fit is the sorting work now sent to chat models: scoring leads, routing tickets, flagging ad copy against a policy, where a number is easier to use than a paragraph.
