Amazon in talks to buy AI video start-up Decart, WSJ reports

A deal could value Decart, maker of the Lucy live video model, at about $7 billion, close to double its May valuation.

Decart, the start-up behind a live video editing model, could be sold to Amazon for around $7 billion, according to people who spoke to The Wall Street Journal for a report on Sunday 11 October 2026. The Reuters account carried by The Straits Times says neither company commented and a deal could come soon if talks hold and no rival bidder appears.

Decart builds two models. Lucy edits video in real time; Oasis generates simulated worlds used to train and check robots and self-driving systems. PitchBook data cited by the Journal put Decart’s value at nearly $4 billion in May, after a $300 million round that Radical Ventures led and Nvidia joined, The Straits Times reports.

Amazon is not the first suitor. Anthropic looked at Decart in August at about $6 billion, then walked away in September after due diligence, Bloomberg Law reports. Brothers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf founded the company in 2023 with Moshe Shalev, all three Israeli engineers.

For anyone building video ads, a purchase would put real-time video editing inside the company that runs AWS and one of the largest ad businesses online.
