ChatGPT ads reach 89 countries, with AI rewrites on by default
OpenAI added 26 countries and says over 100,000 advertisers have used its ads, and from 29 or 30 October it adapts self-serve ads itself unless you opt out.
OpenAI took ChatGPT ads to 26 more countries on Wednesday 21 October 2026, for 89 in all, CNBC reports. Over 100,000 advertisers have bought ads there so far, the company says. In March the ad business was running at $100 million a year; by August it had reached a $1 billion pace.
A second change arrives at the end of October. OpenAI emailed advertisers on 20 October that a feature it calls creative enhancements switches on by default for every self-serve campaign, old and new. Its system then adapts each ad to the conversation it appears in. It can point the click to another page of your site, change the image size, rewrite the headline and description, or put the ad in another language. In OpenAI’s words, these ads “can run automatically without requiring you to review or approve each version”, Search Engine Roundtable reports.
An off switch sits in Ads Manager. It works on a whole account or on single campaigns, and opt-outs set before the email still apply. The email names Friday 30 October, while OpenAI’s help page gives 29 October, PPC Land found. Neither text explains how a replacement landing page is chosen.
From the end of October, OpenAI’s system writes its own versions of every self-serve ChatGPT ad left on the default.
