YouTube takes AI tracks for copyright claims beyond the US
Four generated instrumentals now sit inside YouTube Studio as a fix for a claimed song, for creators in most countries outside the European Economic Area.
Four AI-made replacement songs are now one click away for a YouTube creator hit by a music copyright claim. YouTube said on 3 November 2026 that the option inside its Replace song tool has spread to most countries outside the European Economic Area, PPC Land reports. It had been limited to US desktop users since May.
Each generated instrumental runs three minutes. The claim drops away by itself, provided all the claimed audio has gone. Creators can’t describe the sound they want, since there is no text prompt, and saved edits can’t be reversed. YouTube has not named the model behind the music.
The small print matters more to brands. The tracks can be downloaded as mp3 files, but YouTube’s post says the music is “intended solely for use in videos and other content that you create on YouTube”. A creator’s video often gets a second life as a paid social ad, with the brand paying for the rerun, and how that restriction applies there is missing from the post.
ElevenLabs states its general ad position more plainly. Its Starter plan was $6 a month, or $5 on yearly billing, at our 3 November check, and its general terms, read on 24 October, allow commercial use on paid plans, subject to its use policy, though music sits under separate terms we have not read (our rights table).
A creator’s video that cleared a claim this way now holds a track YouTube says is meant solely for content on YouTube, so a brand buying rights to run that video as an ad elsewhere has to ask which soundtrack it is buying before the deal is signed.
