Creative testing tools
Verdict on creative testing tools
You need no tool to run a creative test, because the split itself is free inside each ad platform. Pay only for the job that is stuck: making variants or reading results (prices checked ). At $3,000 a month, a reporting tool takes 4 per cent of your spend or more.
For under 5k dollars of monthly spend:
Creatify
Make the variants here and run them in Meta’s free A/B test; a reporting tool would take 2 per cent of spend or more.
For 5k to 100k dollars of monthly spend:
Superads
One flat price to 100k dollars of spend, scoring each ad’s hook, hold, click and conversion. It makes no ads; Madgicx lists less below 10k dollars.
For ad leaderboards, benchmarks and a Slack assistant, from 25k dollars of monthly spend:
Motion (motionapp.com)
Starter covers up to 50k dollars of spend with unlimited seats and ad accounts; plans above that show no price.
For research, reports and AI drafts in one tool:
Atria
Core analyses up to 500k dollars of spend a month; 5 of 13 sources report charges after cancelling or inside the trial.
For Meta reports alongside automation rules:
Madgicx
Price follows your declared spend; 26 of 72 sources report refused or slow refunds.

A test has three jobs, and one of them is free
Someone makes the variants, something splits the audience, and something reads the result. Ad platforms do the second job themselves at no charge.
| Tool | Makes variants | Runs the split | Reads the result | Monthly from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meta A/B test | No | Yes | Yes, with a confidence figure | $0 |
| TikTok split test | No | Yes, two ad groups | Yes, on one key metric | $0 |
| Google video experiment | No | Yes, up to 10 arms | Yes | $0 |
| Creatify Agent | Yes | No | Yes, from your ad accounts | $15 a month |
| Atria | Yes: concepts, scripts, copy, images | No | Yes | $159 a month |
| Madgicx | Yes: an AI ad generator | No | Yes | $45 a month |
| Superads | No | No | Yes | $150 a month |
| Motion | Briefs and hooks | No | Yes | $999 a month |

Read the “Runs the split” column first. Creatify says it outright: it “doesn’t run its own split-testing engine”. The pricing pages of Atria, Madgicx, Superads and Motion list no split test either. So the paid tools here leave the split to the ad platform and read what it reports.
When a paid tool promises “testing”, ask which of the other two jobs it does, and whether that job is your bottleneck.
Run the split for free in your ad platform
A split means each person sees only one version, so the ads never compete for the same viewer. Each platform builds this in.
Meta’s A/B test, found under Experiments, splits the audience so nobody sees both versions. Its creative test compares up to 7 ads inside a campaign. The two report differently, as the next table shows.
How to set up a creative test in Meta Ads Manager
In a creative test, you can compare up to 7 creative variants with delivery provided to new test ads. The test is set up in an existing campaign so that high-performing ads can continue to run after the test with delivery system learnings retained.
2. Select an existing campaign. Note: Creative testing is supported in campaigns using the Highest volume bid strategy only. To run a creative test, switch your bid strategy to Highest volume.
4. Choose the number of copies you’d like to make of this ad to create your test ads. You can create 2 to 7 copies.
5. Choose the amount of your existing campaign or ad set budget you’d like to spend across test ads. We suggest using no more than 20% of your existing budget to help reduce the potential of impacting your overall campaign performance during the test.
TikTok’s split test is a toggle in campaign setup. TikTok recommends at least 7 days and a budget that gives 80 per cent power, its estimate of the chance of detecting a real difference.
Google’s video experiments offer a two-arm test of video assets, or a Custom test of up to 10 arms.
How does each tool decide which ad won?
Meta’s A/B test prints a confidence figure, Creatify waits for 10 conversions, and Superads and Motion score or rank ads. Set your rule before launch.
| Tool | How it calls a result |
|---|---|
| Meta A/B test | Compares cost per result, simulates outcomes tens of thousands of times and prints a confidence percentage |
| Meta creative test | Names top performing ads, with no confidence level |
| TikTok split test | Compares ad groups on the key metric you pick |
| Creatify Agent | Needs “at least 10 conversions” and a 95% range on cost per purchase that beats your target; under that it says “insufficient signal” |
| Superads | Scores each ad against your own past ads, by hook, hold, click and conversion |
| Motion | Ranks ads on a leaderboard, with AI tags to group them |

Creatify’s floor is cheap to reach. At $30 a purchase, three ads at its 10 conversions each cost $900. Run each ad in its own ad set and Meta’s learning phase, about 50 results per ad set in a week, costs $4,500. That figure is a delivery threshold, with no bearing on how Meta calls a test.
Put your own figures into the creative testing budget calculator before you choose a tool. If the test costs more than your month’s spend, cut variants first and buy nothing.
What a reporting tool costs at your ad spend
Reporting tools charge by ad spend or by plan. At $3,000 a month every one takes 4 per cent or more of spend. At $25,000 Superads and Atria Core fall to 0.6 per cent.
| Monthly ad spend | Superads | Atria Core | Madgicx | Motion |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $3,000 | $150 a month (5.0%) | $159 a month (5.3%) | $119 (4.0%) | $999 a month (33.3%) |
| $8,000 | $150 a month (1.9%) | $159 a month (2.0%) | $129 (1.6%) | $999 a month (12.5%) |
| $25,000 | $150 a month (0.6%) | $159 a month (0.6%) | $329 (1.3%) | $999 a month (4.0%) |
| $50,000 | $150 a month (0.3%) | $159 a month (0.3%) | Shown in the app | $999 a month (2.0%) |
| $100,000 | $150 a month (0.15%) | $159 a month (0.16%) | Shown in the app | No price shown |

At $25,000 Motion takes 4 per cent of spend, over six times what Superads costs. Pay that gap only for its leaderboards, benchmarks and Slack assistant. Below that spend, its fee buys more as test budget.
The tools, one by one
Creatify: variants, launch and the read in one chat
Creatify is the one here built to make the video variants. Its creative testing page describes an agent that plans the test, makes hook and format variants, launches after you approve and reads the results. The page also spells out its rules, including the conversion floor above and when it refuses to call a result.
It reads Meta, TikTok, Google Ads, Snapchat, Reddit, OpenAI Ads and AppLovin. That page says it launches on all but AppLovin, while the pricing page lists Ad Launcher for Meta, TikTok and AppLovin. Check your channel before you rely on launching from the tool.
Standard is $15 a month, checked , and its 55 credits cover 11 avatar videos of 15 seconds. Three 15-second avatar hook videos use 15 of those credits. Agent runs are less predictable: Creatify’s credit article says their credit use varies.
Fifteen of 61 sources praise it for making many variants for testing (Reddit, Product Hunt). Fifteen of 61 say credits run out faster than the pricing suggests (Reddit, Trustpilot).
- Best for
- Teams short of variants who want an agent to plan the test and make the videos, with the split left to the ad platform.
- Skip it if
- you already have plenty of variants and the report is what is stuck: Superads reads results at a flat price.
Superads: a flat report up to 100k of spend
Superads scores every ad from your own history, so a hook is judged against your past hooks.
Professional is $150 a month up to $100,000 of monthly spend, then $100 a month per extra $100,000 (pricing), checked . A 14-day trial comes first, with no annual contract.
- Best for
- Teams wanting creative reports and a hook, hold, click and conversion score per ad, from $150 a month with no annual contract.
- Skip it if
- you want ads made for you: Superads leaves the creating to you, while Creatify and Atria produce variants.
Motion: leaderboards and benchmarks for high spend
Motion labels every ad by hook, format and angle, then ranks them. Its Starter plan is $999 a month up to $50,000 of spend and lists an ad leaderboard, benchmarks and a Slack assistant, checked .
Users praise the labels: 23 of 104 sources say AI tagging spares them watching every ad (G2, G2).
Two reported limits matter for a test. Six of 104 sources say messy ad names give wrong groupings (G2, G2). Five of 104 say figures do not always match the ad platform (G2, G2).
- Best for
- Brands and agencies spending 25k dollars or more a month on Meta who want every ad AI-tagged and ranked, plus weekly reports and iteration ideas.
- Skip it if
- you spend a few thousand dollars a month: Starter alone is a third of a small budget, and Superads reads the same accounts for less.
Atria: research, reports and AI drafts
Atria joins competitor research, reports on your ads and AI drafts of concepts, scripts and images.
Core is $159 a month with 5 connected ad accounts and analysis of up to $500,000 of spend (pricing), checked .
The drafts draw the sharpest reports: 3 of 13 sources call its AI ads unusable (Trustpilot, Trustpilot). Five of 13 sources report charges after cancelling or inside the trial (Trustpilot, Trustpilot).
- Best for
- Teams that want competitor research, their own creative reporting and AI concept and copy drafts in one tool, with MCP access for AI assistants.
- Skip it if
- you want finished video variants: Atria writes concepts and images, and Creatify renders the avatar video itself.
Madgicx: reports with automation on Meta
Madgicx sits on your Meta account with creative reports, an AI ad generator and automation rules. Eleven of 72 sources say strong ads and fatigue are quicker to spot there than in Ads Manager (G2, G2).
Its plans start at $45 a month (pricing), checked .
Billing is the weak spot: 22 of 72 sources say the 7-day trial turned into a quarterly or annual charge (Reddit, Trustpilot). Twenty-six of 72 report refused or slow refunds (Trustpilot, Reddit).
- Best for
- Meta-heavy e-commerce advertisers who want creative tagging, reporting across Meta, Google, TikTok, Shopify and Klaviyo, and automation in one account.
- Skip it if
- you want one flat fee: Superads holds one price up to 100k dollars of spend, while Madgicx climbs with each spend band.
Questions buyers ask about creative testing tools
Can you test ad creatives for free?
Yes. Meta’s A/B test, TikTok’s split test and Google’s video experiments carry no fee beyond your ad spend. You pay only for the variants, and for a reporting tool if you add one.
Does Creatify run A/B tests?
No. Creatify’s testing page says the agent reads each platform’s results, and that a true split on Meta is set up in Ads Manager. The agent makes the variants, launches them after you approve and reads the outcome.
Do prediction scores replace a test?
No. A score estimates how an ad might do before any spend. Segwise offers a pre-flight score against the ads already winning in your account, and AdCreative.ai’s homepage sells “Predict Performance Before Launch”. Neither reports a live audience’s response, so a real test still decides.
How many creative variants should you test at once?
Creatify’s page suggests “Three to five genuinely different concepts or hooks”. Your budget sets the true limit, since each variant needs enough spend to collect conversions. The framework guide works that number out.
