Motion app for Meta ads
Verdict on Motion (motionapp.com)
Motion (motionapp.com) fits Meta advertisers launching 10 or more creatives and spending $25,000 or more a month. 30 of 104 user reviews credit its visual reports, and Starter costs $750 a month up to $50,000 of monthly spend, checked .

What Motion does for Meta ads
Motion pulls your ads and their metrics into reports that show each creative beside its numbers. It is a different product from the Motion calendar and task app at usemotion.com.
Motion’s AI Tagging works on Meta ads (Facebook, Instagram and Reels). It labels each ad by asset type, visual format, hook tactic, messaging angle, offer and intended audience, among other categories (FAQ).
The Starter card adds an AI analyst you “Ask in Slack”, which “ships briefs, hooks & reports”, plus “daily & weekly reports, iteration finders, alerts” (pricing page). Growth, the top plan, adds “Closed-loop pipelines built with you, signal to launched ad”.
Meta gets the most features; AI Tagging, launch analysis and the MCP connection work on Meta alone.

Each workspace holds one ad account per platform, and a report “can only pull from one data source at a time” (FAQ). Motion’s FAQ tells agencies to create one workspace per client.
The MCP lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor query your Motion data. Its help article says “The MCP is read-only” and “supports Meta only”, for users with the Owner, Admin or Collaborator role.
What Motion costs at your ad spend
Motion sets the plan by monthly ad spend. Starter is $750 a month up to $50,000, Pro is $1,200 a month above it, and Growth, above $125,000, reads “Let’s chat” (pricing page, ). Every plan includes unlimited seats and ad accounts, one per platform in each workspace. Pro adds unlimited view-only guests, Northbeam and Google Analytics attribution, and “First-pass video QA in Slack”.
Crossing a threshold moves you up. Terms section 8.1 says that when your use “exceeds the service limits or usage capacity for an applicable Plan, Customer shall be required to upgrade” (terms).
At $100,000 of monthly spend, Motion’s Pro costs $1,200 a month. Atria’s Core and Foreplay’s Workflow stay at $159 and $175 a month at every level, and Madgicx quotes the price for that spend in the app.
| Tool and plan | At 25k (USD) | At 50k (USD) | At 100k (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Motion Starter, Pro above 50k dollars | $750 | $750 | $1,200 |
| Madgicx Pro Complete, by declared spend | $329 | Quoted in the app | Quoted in the app |
| Foreplay Workflow, Lens for 1 brand | $175 | $175 | $175 |
| Atria Core | $159 | $159 | $159 |

Each cell is the cheapest paid plan with reports on your own ads that covers that spend (Madgicx pricing, Foreplay pricing, Atria pricing). The creative research spend table prices six research and analytics tools at 10k, 50k and 100k dollars of monthly spend. Motion’s three plans sit in the AI ad tool price tracker.
The pricing page shows no Free plan and no yearly price. The homepage says “No credit card required for trial”, and Motion’s MCP help article gives a new account “a 14 day trial”.
Terms 2.1.2 let Motion set the trial period “in writing”, and data entered during the trial is “PERMANENTLY LOST” unless you subscribe to the same services before it ends. If you subscribe to a smaller plan than the trial covered, you must export the trial data before the trial ends.
What Motion’s terms allow you to do with its reports
Motion owns the reports; you hold a licence. Section 3.2 makes Motion owner of, “other than Customer Data, anything used, developed or delivered by or on behalf of Motion under this Agreement including without limitation any Aggregated Data, Deliverables and Reports” (terms).
Section 3.3 grants a “limited, revocable, non-exclusive” licence to Output and Reports “during the applicable Service Term, solely for the Permitted Purpose”. Section 1.39 defines that purpose as “internal use or such other additional permitted purpose as may be set out in an applicable Order Form”.
For agencies, section 3.3 allows sublicensing only “to permit use by Permitted Users”. Section 1.40 counts “customers with which Customer does business” among them, “for whom a Subscription to the Motion Solution has been procured”. The homepage invites you to “Share reports with live data with your team or clients”, and the FAQ offers clients guest accounts.
The terms do not define “internal use”, or say whether a client viewing through a shared link or a guest account counts as a Permitted User. Nor do they say whether reporting for clients is the “service bureau use” that section 2.2(ii) bars.
Your ad data stays yours (3.1). But you grant Motion a “perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable” licence to use it to improve its services and build anonymised aggregate data. Motion may “make Aggregated Data publicly available” (3.1).
The preamble reads: “THE SERVICES MAY NOT BE ACCESSED FOR PURPOSES OF MONITORING THEIR AVAILABILITY, PERFORMANCE OR FUNCTIONALITY, OR FOR ANY OTHER BENCHMARKING OR COMPETITIVE PURPOSES.” The next line bars Motion’s “DIRECT COMPETITORS” without written consent.
The benchmarking clause names no exception for a buyer comparing tools during a trial. Motion’s row sits beside other tools’ clauses in the AI commercial use table.
What 104 public reviews of Motion report
Motion’s 104 public reviews run from September 2024 to July 2026: 97 on G2, 5 on Reddit and 2 on Trustpilot. The G2 reviews come from Internet Archive copies of Motion’s G2 listing captured 6 August 2026.
Of those 97, 94 were posted between 9 and 23 December 2025, and G2 labels all but one of the 94 “Organic”. Two older reviews on the same profile describe Apple’s Motion video app and are left out.
The praise centres on visual reports and AI tags. One reviewer likes “metrics side by side to the creative, making it super straightforward” (G2), and another says “I don’t have to watch all the ads myself to categorize them” (G2).
The complaints are about reliability and data accuracy. “It can be very slow at times and I find it stops working fairly often,” writes a video editor (G2).
Six reviewers say reports depend on tidy ad names; one says you “must make sure you have a super solid ad naming convention” (G2, G2). Five find figures that differ from the ad platform’s own (G2, G2).
Price comes up in 7 of the 104, mostly outside G2. A Trustpilot reviewer would rate it higher “if the pricing wasn’t linked to ad spend”.

What are the alternatives to Motion?
Atria, Foreplay and Madgicx also report on your own ads, and each lists a lower entry price than Motion’s Starter. The price gap buys seats and accounts. Motion’s Starter includes unlimited seats and ad accounts. Atria Core includes 5 of each, and Foreplay’s Workflow 5 users with Lens for one brand (Atria pricing, Foreplay pricing).
Atria also makes AI images, which no Motion plan card lists, and writes scripts and ad copy. Core is $159 a month on monthly billing for 5 ad accounts and up to $500,000 of spend analysed (Atria pricing, ). The Atria profile quotes its terms, which grant no ownership of AI outputs.
Foreplay starts as a swipe file. Its Workflow plan, at $175 a month, adds Lens analytics for one brand’s Meta and TikTok accounts, with no spend tier (Foreplay pricing, ). More in the Foreplay profile.
Madgicx also prices by declared spend, from $45 a month in the lowest band, and adds automation and ad management (Madgicx pricing, ). Above $30,000 of spend, it quotes the price in the app. The Madgicx profile has the bands.
