Resemble AI says 1 in 11 Meta ad files are AI-made, few say so
A detection vendor scanned 37,768 images and videos from Meta’s ad archive. Two of the 3,379 it flagged mentioned AI in the ad text.
Resemble AI makes tools that detect AI-made images, video and audio. In a report published on 22 October 2026, it ran 37,768 ad images and videos from 509 companies, taken from Meta’s public Ad Library in September, through its own detector, PPC Land reported on 27 October. About one file in 11 (3,379, or 8.9 per cent) came back as AI-generated or altered. Just two of those ads said so in their text.
Brands differed widely. On their own pages the rate was 6.9 per cent. Temu’s 64 flagged files out of 100 sampled sat at one end, and at the other 167 of the 389 brands had nothing flagged, Net Influencer reports. Resemble also says 70 per cent of the fakes it labelled by style, 2,259 of 3,216, were built to pass as real photos or footage, PPC Land adds. It checked 971 files for a signed label recording how a file was made, C2PA Content Credentials, and found it in none. The report’s last page advertises Resemble’s own detection models.
That missing label matters on Meta in particular. Of the platform ad policies on our watermark register, checked 12 October 2026, only Meta’s says it reads C2PA from other tools and labels the ad as made with AI; ChatGPT and Nano Banana write C2PA into the images they export. Resemble’s figure is now F7 on our count of AI-made ads.
Resemble found no Content Credentials in any of the 971 files it checked, and the report does not say whether Meta keeps that label when it processes an upload, so on those files Meta’s automatic AI label, the one on our register that reads C2PA from other tools, had nothing to read.
