Creatify vs Synthesia for ads

By Alexandre S. Published Last checked What changed

Verdict: Creatify or Synthesia

For UGC-style paid social with a stock presenter, Creatify; Synthesia only with a consenting person’s personal avatar. Synthesia’s Acceptable Use Policy bars stock avatars in “promoted”, “boosted”, or “paid” social ads without its written consent. Creatify bills 15-second blocks, so 31 seconds bills as 45; 30 seconds costs $3.90 on Starter if every credit is used ().

Can you run stock avatars in paid social ads on Creatify and Synthesia?

Not legal advice This section quotes Creatify’s and Synthesia’s terms with their dates and reads them as an ad buyer would. Ask a lawyer before you rely on any reading here.

On Synthesia, only with its written consent. Creatify’s paid tiers carry commercial use under section 6.2 and its Moderation Policy, and no clause names AI actors in ads.

Synthesia’s Acceptable Use Policy (last updated 23 February 2024) bars “Incorporating a Stock Avatar in content for “promoted”, “boosted”, or “paid” advertising on any social media platform” without written consent. Its help centre (22 July 2026) adds that stock avatars cannot endorse products or services; the Acceptable Use Policy allows it on enterprise plans only.

So the like-for-like ad is a Creatify AI actor against a Synthesia personal avatar of someone who has recorded consent. None of Synthesia’s 69 public user sources mentions the stock avatar rule.

Creatify’s terms (effective 23 September 2024) grant use “subject to the limitations and restrictions of the subscription tier”, and section 6.2 makes the grant depend on the Moderation Policy. That policy bans “Fraudulent, deceptive practices”, and on a breach “all rights granted to you shall revert to Creatify”. Starter lists 300 AI actors.

The Free plan is unclear. Section 1 says “Users of the Free Tier have limited rights” and lists none, while Creatify’s FAQ says output can be used “in any channel without limitations”.

Which costs less for a 30-second ad?

Synthesia: $0.66 to $1.45 a 30-second ad on Starter against $3.90 on Creatify Starter, at list price if every credit is used. Creatify’s 15-second blocks widen the gap as soon as an ad runs past a block.

Creatify charges 5 credits per 15 seconds of avatar video, “rounded up” (help centre). Synthesia meters what is generated by the second. Creatify Starter lists $39 a month, Pro $99 a month and Synthesia Starter $29 a month (Creatify pricing, Synthesia pricing, read ).

Creatify Starter $39 $3.90 $5.85

Synthesia’s range runs from Starter’s 10 included minutes plus the “~12 min” its 1,250 credits buy, down to the 10 included minutes alone. Synthesia says a minute uses more credits “if the avatar is on screen throughout”, and names no rate for it.

Creatify’s own comparison page lists Creatify Starter at $19 and Synthesia at $18 a month. Synthesia’s 18 is its Starter billed yearly. Creatify does not publish an annual price on its pricing page, so its 19 cannot be checked.

Making the ad with your own face

Both sell an avatar of a real person. That is Synthesia’s only route into paid social without its written consent.

Creatify Pro includes 3 custom avatars. Synthesia’s comparison table gives Starter 3 personal avatars, and its FAQ says personal avatars “are included with paid plans”; each needs a consent recording from the person filmed.

Synthesia’s premium Studio Express-1 avatar is “a paid add-on” at $1,000 a year “for annual plan users only”, per its pricing tooltip (checked 26 September 2026). The same page’s compare table puts it on Enterprise only in the monthly view, and on Starter, Pro and Enterprise in the yearly view.

Launching and localising the ad

Creatify sells the launch; Synthesia sells the languages.

Creatify’s pricing grid lists an “Ad Launcher (Meta / TikTok / AppLovin)”, and Pro adds the AI Performance Agent and a competitor ad tracker. Its pricing page counts 75+ languages while its FAQ counts 29.

Synthesia’s pricing page lists 160+ languages and dubbing minutes in the same allowance as video. Five of its 69 user sources single out one script turned into the same video in dozens of languages (YouTube, Trustpilot).

What happens when you cancel?

Neither refunds an unused month, and Synthesia also ends access to every video in the account.

Creatify’s credits stay valid for two months (help centre), and its refund policy (23 August 2026) says “payments are final and non-refundable”. The terms give no “refund or credit for amounts already billed or paid” after cancelling (section 4).

Synthesia’s refund article (17 July 2026) calls purchases “non-cancelable and non-refundable, even if the subscription wasn’t used”. Its billing article adds “Once the billing period ends, you lose access to Synthesia and all videos in your account”. Its Customer Terms (20 July 2026) say “Avatars cannot be exported”. What 130 public user reviews report

Counted within each tool’s own sources, checked 28 September 2026.

On Creatify, 61 public sources from August 2025 to September 2026:

  • Outputs miss the brief: lip sync off, faces changing mid-shot, wrong product details (17 of 61 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot)
  • Credits go faster than the pricing suggests, since retries and failed renders bill (15 of 61 sources: Trustpilot, Reddit)
  • A product link becomes many ad variations at volume (15 of 61 sources: G2, Reddit)

On Synthesia, 69 public sources from November 2025 to September 2026, most of them training and e-learning teams:

  • Viewers read the avatars as AI, and some teams keep only the voice (19 of 69 sources: Reddit, Reddit)
  • Credits run out quickly and expire, and premium avatars cost extra (11 of 69 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot)
  • Ad-focused reviewers call it overkill for short paid social clips (3 of 69 sources: Trustpilot, YouTube)

Each profile carries the full sample: Creatify and Synthesia.

If neither fits

For stock avatars in ads, HeyGen allows them on paid plans. A 30-second Avatar III ad there costs about $0.10 on Creator if every credit is used (HeyGen vs JoggAI).

For high-volume avatar output on a small budget, JoggAI shares one credit balance across its app, API and agent tools. The API counts in a different unit. For more stock actors than Creatify Starter, Arcads lists 1,000+ on its homepage.
