How to connect Claude to Meta Ads

By Alexandre S. Published Last checked

To connect Claude to Meta Ads, add Meta’s own connector. In Claude, open Connectors, add a custom connector with the address https://mcp.facebook.com/ads, and sign in with Facebook. A connector is a link that lets Claude use an outside service. Meta announced its connector in open beta on 29 April 2026, and it needs “no developer credentials, API setup, or coding”.

Use it first for reading: reports, breakdowns and error checks. Any route that can change your account can also spend your money, so changes need a brake.

Meta’s connector has one: new items start paused, and Claude asks before activating them. Pipeboard is a middle layer between Claude and Meta, with read-only tokens on its paid plans. Creatify runs its own agent outside Claude, puts every change on an approval card, and can make the replacement ad.

How to connect Claude to Meta Ads, step by step

These steps add Meta’s connector in Claude on the web or desktop. Jon Loomer’s walk-through and Claude’s connector article give the same path.

  1. Check that your account is enabled. Pipeboard’s rollout page, from a rival vendor, points to Meta Business Suite, then Settings, Integrations, Ads MCP server.
  2. In Claude, open “Customize”, then Connectors.
  3. Click the + button and choose Add custom connector.
  4. Name it Meta Ads and paste https://mcp.facebook.com/ads. Click Add, then Connect.
  5. Sign in with Facebook and choose the business portfolios Claude may reach. Pick the fewest that do the job.
  6. Open a new chat, click the + button, choose Connectors and switch Meta Ads on.

Test with a request that changes nothing:

List my ad accounts. For the first one, show spend and results by campaign for the last 7 days.
Do not create, edit or activate anything.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds the connector first. Free accounts get one custom connector.

What each route can touch

Meta’s connector inherits your Facebook user’s access, Loomer notes. If your login reaches client accounts, so does Claude, once you select those portfolios at sign-in. Each route asks for something different.

What each route asks for
Route Sign-in What it receives Who decides the accounts
Meta’s connector Facebook login, inside Claude Your user’s access. Meta’s developer guide lists ads_mcp_management plus ads_read or ads_management for its own-app route You, by portfolio
Pipeboard Sign-in at pipeboard.co, then Claude Read-only or write-scoped tokens, held by a third party You, by ad account slot
Creatify Facebook login, inside Creatify “ads management and business management access” Workspace owners and admins
Export and upload None A report file you choose You, by what you export

With Meta’s route, Claude talks straight to Meta. With Pipeboard and Creatify, a vendor sits between you and the account, so read its security page before connecting a client’s money.

What can go wrong when Claude has budget rights?

The paused rule covers new items only. Meta’s tool list says write tools “create entities in a paused state”, and that activating one “starts spending budget”. An edit to a live ad set has no paused stage, and Loomer lists budgets among the fields Claude can edit.

“Allow always” removes your brake. Claude asks before it uses a tool, and its help article keeps that button for tools you trust to run unsupervised. Click it on a write tool and you lose the question.

Research mode skips the question too. Anthropic advises turning off any tool that writes to outside apps before you use Research, since it can call connector tools without further approval.

A wrong address is a separate danger. The same article warns that custom connectors “have not been verified by Anthropic”, and that a malicious server can hide instructions for Claude. Copy Meta’s address from Meta’s own page.

Account restrictions are the last fear. Loomer reports earlier “unexplained account shutdowns” tied to unapproved AI integrations, and calls them likely errors. Meta announced the connectors itself on 29 April 2026.

Which actions to leave behind an approval

Sort every tool before the first real task. Claude’s “Search and tools” menu switches individual tools off.

Meta’s 16 July update adds rules for anyone with full control of a business portfolio. They limit what agents do on an ad account, with budget and catalogue changes as Meta’s examples. Pipeboard’s rollout page says these sit in the same Business Suite screen from step 1, Settings, Integrations, Ads MCP server.

How to sort Meta’s connector tools
Your rule Actions Why
Let it run Reports, breakdowns, activity log, Ad Library search, ad previews Reads spend nothing
Ask every time ads_activate_entity, ads_update_entity, new campaigns, ad sets and ads Each one starts or changes spending
Ask every time ads_boost_ig_post, new custom audiences A boost puts money behind a post, and an audience changes who sees your ads
Keep to yourself ads_delete_custom_audience, ads_update_custom_audience_users One deletes, and the other uploads hashed customer data

Set your own budget line as well. Creatify’s agent page gives a usable one. A raise past 20 per cent carries a warning that it can reset Meta’s learning. Anything over 30 per cent in one step needs an explicit yes.

Creatify’s Meta Ads Agent: no setup, and it makes the new ad

Creatify’s agent is the route with no connector to configure, and it solves a gap in Meta’s server. Meta’s tool list can list your ad videos but has no tool that makes a video file. Its creative tool builds a link ad from an image, and a multi-media option is in limited availability.

The Meta Ads Agent reads the account, says which ads are tired, makes new ones and launches them after you approve. Creatify’s page lists each permission by level, and new ads still pass Meta’s review.

Creatify Meta Ads Agent example: a CPA check ending in an approval card with two recommended actions

You talk to this agent in Creatify’s chat, inside Creatify’s app, and never in Claude. Creatify’s Claude connector is a separate product that makes videos.

Creatify’s page states these safeguards:

  • Every change shows on a card with the reason and the values before and after, and “Nothing runs until you approve”.
  • It never deletes. It pauses instead.
  • It holds the next change if the ad set was edited in the last week.
  • Cards you ignore expire after 72 hours.

Scheduled routines “ask before acting unless you choose otherwise”, and they start on Pro at $55 a month. Leave that setting alone.

The catch is cost. The agent “runs on credits” with no price per action. Users report that credits go faster than the pricing suggests, and name agent runs among the causes (15 of 61 sources: Trustpilot, Reddit).

Creatify is the wrong pick if you want reports in Claude and nothing more: Meta’s connector does that at no listed price. Standard and Pro each have one seat, so a second seat means Max at $95 a month. AI media buyers compares the agents that run an account end to end.

Pipeboard, for accounts Meta has not enabled

Pipeboard says it works on every account you can access, since it uses the standard Marketing API. That covers accounts Meta’s rollout has not reached. You add it to Claude as a custom connector, with Pipeboard’s own address.

Meta Ads MCP

The Meta Ads MCP lets Claude securely access your Meta Ads data through official Meta APIs using OAuth.

Prerequisites A Claude Pro, Team, or Enterprise account (Connectors require a paid plan). A Pipeboard account with Facebook and/or Google Ads connected.

Setup Navigate to Settings, then Connectors, then Add Connector. Server URL: https://meta-ads.mcp.pipeboard.co/

Claude’s help article differs on one point: Free accounts get one custom connector.

Each ad account takes a slot. Pipeboard’s plans give Free 2 slots and Pro 3. Premium at $99 gives 10, and Agency at $199 gives 25.

Pipeboard’s plans: Free with 2 ad account slots, Pro US$29.90, Premium US$99, Agency US$199 a month. Pipeboard pricing page, captured

Its comparison page describes paused campaigns and bulk edits, and no approval step of its own. Bulk edits are the feature to keep behind a yes.

When Meta’s connector fails

Pipeboard’s rollout page, checked 15 October 2026, explains the usual errors.

  • is_ads_mcp_enabled: false means the login worked and the ad account is not enabled yet. Nothing on your side changes that.
  • “You can’t connect to Ads MCP server with this account.” usually means the wrong Facebook profile, or one with no role that can manage ads.
  • A connector that worked and then stopped points to an expired login. The page puts logins at about 60 days.

Questions about Claude and Meta Ads

Is there an official Meta Ads MCP server?

Yes. Meta hosts it at https://mcp.facebook.com/ads, and announced it in open beta on 29 April 2026.

Does the Meta Ads connector work on the free Claude plan?

Yes. Claude’s help centre puts custom connectors on every plan and limits Free accounts to one.

Can Claude Code connect to Meta Ads?

Yes. Meta’s developer guide gives a claude mcp add command that uses your own Meta app ID. The Claude web and desktop route needs no Meta app.

Can Claude spend my ad budget by itself?

It can if you allow it. New items start paused and Claude asks before activating them, but “Allow always” and Research mode both remove that question.

Is there a safer way to let Claude read my ads?

Yes. Export a report from Ads Manager and upload the file. Claude then analyses the numbers with no link to your account.
