How to connect Higgsfield to Claude

By Alexandre S. Updated Last checked What changed

To connect Higgsfield to Claude, add a custom connector with the URL https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcp and sign in. You need a paid Higgsfield plan, and every generation through the connector spends credits, even on models your plan calls “Unlimited”.

Plans start at $15 a month, prices checked . Higgsfield’s help centre gives a different route for each AI client:

Connect Higgsfield to each AI client
AI client Where you add Higgsfield How it signs in
Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop) Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, with the MCP URL Higgsfield sign-in window (OAuth)
Claude Code The agent installs the Higgsfield CLI and its skills higgsfield auth login in the browser
Codex The same CLI and skills route higgsfield auth login in the browser
ChatGPT The Higgsfield plugin in the Plugins Directory Higgsfield sign-in
Cursor “Customize”, then “Marketplace” Higgsfield sign-in
Any other MCP client The MCP URL in the client’s settings Higgsfield sign-in (OAuth)

Scroll sideways for all 3 columns

None of these routes needs an API key.

How do I connect Higgsfield to Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI agent?

Higgsfield connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible agents, with no API key. In Claude, add a custom connector with the URL https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcp. In ChatGPT, add the Higgsfield Plugin from the Plugins Directory. In Cursor, add Higgsfield from the marketplace. In Claude Code, OpenClaw, and Hermes, the agent installs the Higgsfield CLI. An active paid subscription is required.

What do I need before connecting? An active Higgsfield subscription and an account in the AI agent: Claude (claude.ai or Claude Desktop), ChatGPT, Cursor, or any other MCP-compatible client. No API key or additional setup is needed.

What is Higgsfield’s MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call another service’s tools. Think of it as a plug: Claude gets a set of Higgsfield buttons it can press for you.

Higgsfield’s MCP server is that plug. Its help centre says it lets you “generate images, videos, characters, and audio from Higgsfield directly inside Claude or another MCP-compatible agent” (MCP article, dated 1 August 2026).

It works on your existing account and plan. The Higgsfield API is a separate product with its own key and a dollar balance; our Higgsfield API guide covers that route.

One safety point matters before you paste anything. Higgsfield’s platforms article says “the only official connector URL is mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcp” and that a connector with any other address “is not Higgsfield” (official platforms).

How to connect Higgsfield to Claude

These steps come from Higgsfield’s connection article, dated 1 August 2026. They work on claude.ai and in Claude Desktop.

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors. Higgsfield explains the connector in its own article, What is Higgsfield MCP?, so keep it open beside Claude’s settings.
  2. Click Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Higgsfield and paste https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcp.
  4. Click Connect. A Higgsfield authorisation window opens.
  5. Sign in to Higgsfield and approve. If you are already signed in on higgsfield.ai, this step passes by itself.
  6. Back in Claude, Higgsfield shows in your list of active connectors.

To check it works, open a new chat and ask “What is my Higgsfield credit balance?” The article says Claude then calls the Higgsfield tools and returns your account data. If Claude answers without calling a tool, reconnect.

Your Higgsfield plan has to be paid. The article puts it plainly: “An active paid subscription is required.”

Claude Code and Codex connect through the CLI

Coding agents take a different road. Higgsfield’s CLI article names “Claude Code, Cursor, Codex” as the agents its CLI and Skills are built for. The CLI (a command-line tool) uses fewer tokens per call than the full MCP connection: the CLI article says each skill’s “defined structure … reduces token overhead”.

For Claude Code, the help centre gives one message to paste into the agent. It asks the agent to run three commands:

npm i -g @higgsfield/cli
higgsfield auth login
npx skills add higgsfield-ai/skills

You finish the sign-in in the browser window that opens.

Codex follows the same steps: the CLI article lists it as compatible, and the skills on higgsfield.ai/mcp carry an “Open in Codex” button.

The skills install pulls three: generate for images and video, soul to train a Soul character from photos, and product-photoshoot, which turns “a product link or images into studio-quality product shots and video ads”. In a coding agent you call /higgsfield:generate or simply ask for an image.

What you can ask it

Through the connector, Claude reaches image and video generation on every Higgsfield model, upscaling, background removal, image expansion, video reframing and Kling 3.0 Motion Control. It also handles Soul characters, saved Elements and audio jobs such as voice-overs and dubbing. It can read your credit balance too. Every result lands in your Assets on higgsfield.ai, tagged as MCP. Editors who work in Resolve, Premiere or Photoshop can use the Higgsfield plugins instead.

The agent picks a model if you name none. The help centre’s own examples name one: “Generate a video using Seedance of a person walking through a forest at sunrise, realistic motion, camera tracking close.”

Higgsfield also offers “skills”: preset workflows that run the in-between steps (concept, script, each generation) from one request, on your plan credits. The skills page lists eight under Paid Ads, among them Hook Multiplier, which gives “one video multiple opening hooks”, and Ad Resizer for new placements. For UGC-style ads there are Product review UGC, Unboxing UGC and Try-on UGC.

A worked request, built from the help centre’s own phrasing, for a product clip:

Before generating anything, tell me the credit cost and wait for my confirmation.
Open the Higgsfield upload window for my product photo.
Use the uploaded image as the start frame and generate a 5-second 9:16 video with Kling 3.0 at 720p: the bottle turns slowly on a kitchen counter, morning light from the window on the left.

The first line is the help centre’s spending guard. The second matters because, the article says, “the agent can’t read images attached to the chat itself”: files reach Higgsfield through an upload window the agent opens. On Higgsfield’s pricing page, a 5-second Kling 3.0 clip at 720p costs 7 credits. On Plus that is about $0.34, prices checked .

Does MCP use Unlimited or credits?

Credits, on every plan. Higgsfield’s MCP article says “everything generated through MCP deducts credits, regardless of your plan”, and that Unlimited access and free generations “apply only on higgsfield.ai”. The same rule covers the CLI, Canvas and Supercomputer.

What is Higgsfield MCP, and how is it different from the web?

Higgsfield MCP connects Higgsfield to AI agents. Connect once and generate images, videos, characters, and audio from Claude or any MCP-compatible agent, without leaving your agent. The main difference from generating on the web: MCP always uses credits. Unlimited access and free generations apply only on higgsfield.ai, so anything generated through MCP, CLI, Canvas, Supercomputer, or other automated tools deducts credits at standard rates.

Higgsfield’s help-centre article: MCP always uses credits, while unlimited access applies only on higgsfield.ai. Higgsfield, What is Higgsfield MCP, and how is it different from the web?,

So a model that costs you nothing on the website still costs its standard rate from Claude. The help centre answers the obvious complaint directly: an Unlimited model charged through MCP is “expected”. Batch Unlimited work in the browser, and send only the jobs worth paying for through Claude. Higgsfield Unlimited, explained covers what the window includes.

The one exception is the one-day trial on Higgsfield’s pricing page: its unlimited access “works via Higgsfield MCP and on higgsfield.ai”.

There is no hard spending cap. The help centre calls a credit limit in the chat “a prompt-level instruction, not a hard limit”.

A creator builds a Claude skill to cut the credits Higgsfield MCP calls spend Video: I Created This New Claude Skill To Stop Bleeding Credits With Higgsfield MCP, Craig Does AI on YouTube, .

Users report the same pain. Eight of 52 public sources say generations run slow or fail and still cost credits. Some name API and MCP runs that fail or ignore instructions (YouTube, Reddit).

Watch out Section 11.12 of Higgsfield’s terms treats everything an agent does through your connection as “your activity”. Section 11.13 adds that Claude, ChatGPT and other clients run under their own terms.

Fixes when the connector fails

The help centre lists three common faults.

  • “Authorization with the MCP server failed.” The sign-in token has expired: disconnect Higgsfield in Settings, Connectors, then reconnect.
  • Connected, but Claude never calls Higgsfield. Start a new chat, name Higgsfield in the request and check the connector’s toggle for that chat.
  • “MCP HTTP exchange failed” in Cursor or another client. Retry the request, and if the error comes back, delete the server and add it again.

The connection article says a finished job can take up to 60 seconds to appear in Assets. If credits were deducted and nothing arrived, the article sends you to support with the generation ID and time. Plans, credits and refund rules: Higgsfield pricing. Questions about Higgsfield and Claude

Does the Higgsfield MCP need an API key?

No. The connector signs in through Higgsfield’s own authorisation window. API keys belong to the separate Higgsfield API.

Does the free Higgsfield plan work with Claude?

No. The help centre requires “an active Higgsfield subscription”, and the connection article says a paid one.

Can I connect Higgsfield to ChatGPT and Claude at once?

Yes. The help centre says one account can be connected in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other agents at the same time, on the same credits.

Can Claude use my Soul ID character?

Yes. The connection article’s examples name the trained character in the request (“my Soul character [name]”), and the connector passes it to the model. Training a Soul ID is covered in our Higgsfield Soul guide.

Where do Claude’s Higgsfield generations go?

To Assets on higgsfield.ai, tagged with the MCP source, the same as web generations. Every other Higgsfield feature: how to use Higgsfield.
