Higgsfield API

By Alexandre S. Updated Last checked

Yes, Higgsfield has a public API. It is a separate product from the Higgsfield plans. You fund a dollar balance and get one key for a catalogue of 84 image and video entries. Then you pay per second of video or per image. Your plan’s credits never touch it.

Rates below are Higgsfield’s standard rates on 16 October 2026, at each model’s cheapest setting.

At standard rates, Higgsfield’s Kling 3.0 Standard endpoint costs the same per second as Kling’s own API without audio. Kling’s own rate with audio is higher. Its page states no resolution, so the match is on price alone. Veo is missing from the API catalogue altogether.

Price per second of video, Higgsfield API or the model maker: 7 routes.
Route Per second 5 seconds
Kling 3.0 Standard, Higgsfield API (resolution not stated) $0.084 $0.42
Kling 3.0, Kling API, 720p, sound off $0.084 $0.42
Kling 3.0, Kling API, 720p, sound on $0.126 $0.63
Seedance 2.5, Higgsfield API, lowest setting $0.206 $1.03
Seedance, Dreamina, CapCut or Lumina No public per-second rate No public rate
Veo 3.1 Fast, Gemini API, 720p $0.10 $0.50
Veo, Higgsfield API Not in the catalogue Not available

Does Higgsfield have an API?

Yes. Higgsfield’s help centre describes it as a way to “generate video and images from your own code”, where “one API key opens every model in the API catalog” (API article, dated 16 September 2026).

How is the API different from my Higgsfield plan?

The Higgsfield API lets you generate video and images from your own code: one API key opens every model in the API catalog, and each request is paid in US dollars from a prepaid balance. No plan or subscription is involved: fund the balance, send requests at the rates listed in the catalog, and new requests simply wait once the balance hits zero.

A subscription on higgsfield.ai and the API are two separate products with separate billing. Your plan, credits, and Unlimited access exist only on the website; the API runs on its own account balance in US dollars.

Higgsfield’s help-centre article states the API is a separate product from a plan, paid from a US-dollar prepaid balance. Higgsfield, What is the Higgsfield API, and how do I get started?,

An API (application programming interface) is a door for software. Your app sends a request with a prompt, and a finished file comes back, with no website in between.

The catalogue documents 84 entries, 17 image and 67 video (model reference). Several are variants of one model, such as Kling 3.0 Standard text to video. Its video families include Seedance, Kling, Wan, MiniMax, LTX, PixVerse and Grok, plus Higgsfield’s own Genjutsu and Cinema Studio. The images side carries Soul, Ideogram, Recraft and Qwen.

The website and the API do not carry the same menu. The help centre says the API’s selection “may differ from the model lineup on higgsfield.ai”. Veo 3.1 shows it: the model runs on the website, but no Veo model appears among the API’s video families. For Veo by API, Google’s Gemini API is the route (Google Veo).

Higgsfield has a CLI as well (a command-line tool), but that one belongs to the plan side. It connects coding agents to your higgsfield.ai account and spends plan credits, as do the MCP connector and the plugins. That route has its own guide: connect Higgsfield to Claude.

How to get access

The help centre gives four steps, and none needs a Higgsfield plan.

  1. Sign up for an API account, as a person or a company. Keep Higgsfield’s own API article, What is the Higgsfield API?, open beside the sign-up form.
  2. Add a payment method and fund the balance.
  3. Create a key in the console at open.higgsfield.ai. The full key shows once, so save it then.
  4. Call the REST API at api.higgsfield.ai, or use the Python or TypeScript SDK.

Authentication

Authenticate server-side API requests with your Higgsfield key and secret.

Create and manage API credentials in Higgsfield Console. Each credential consists of a key ID and a secret.

Authorization header. Send both values in the Authorization header: Authorization: Key YOUR_KEY_ID:YOUR_KEY_SECRET

The API also accepts the legacy hf-api-key and hf-secret headers. New integrations should use the Authorization header.

Higgsfield’s API documentation: a key ID and secret sent in the Authorization header. Higgsfield, Higgsfield API docs: Authentication,

Each model page carries sample code and setup prompts for Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Generation runs in the background. You send a request and get an ID back. Then you poll for the status, or wait for a webhook (an automatic call to your server when the file is ready).

Download what you make. The docs keep output “for at least seven days after creation” and say it may be removed after that (billing and retention).

Rate limits work by concurrency, the number of jobs queued or running at once. The help centre says a new key “unlocks 20 concurrent requests”. The docs add that limits “depend on the account and the selected model” and show in the console, and that the API sends no Retry-After header (rate limits). Build a queue on your side.

How the API bills

You pay in dollars from a prepaid balance, with no subscription. The help centre sets a minimum top-up of $5. Video is priced per second of output and images per image; DoP, Higgsfield’s camera-move model, is priced per generation.

A creator generates videos through the Higgsfield API instead of a subscription Video: Generate AI videos Without Higgsfield Subscription | Higgsfield API Tutorial, Tech Rush on YouTube, .

The rules that change your bill:

  • An estimate endpoint returns a request’s cost before you run it.
  • Failed requests cost nothing: “its cost returns to your balance automatically”. The docs say the same of moderated (nsfw) requests.
  • Funds expire one year after they are added.
  • The balance never goes below zero. New requests wait until you top up, or auto top-up refills it.
  • Plan credits and Unlimited windows do not apply. The help centre calls the plan and the API “two separate products with separate billing”.

On 16 October 2026 the API catalogue showed a launch offer. Kling 3.0 ran at half its standard rate, $0.042 a second. Seedance 2.5 was 30 per cent off, at $0.144 a second. At the launch rate, 5 seconds of Kling 3.0 Standard cost $0.21.

Two of 52 public sources point to the pay-as-you-go API as a way to use Higgsfield without a monthly subscription. They also find its rates below other API resellers for some models (YouTube, YouTube).

Higgsfield API or the model maker’s API?

For Kling 3.0, Higgsfield’s Standard endpoint matches Kling’s own 720p rate without audio: $0.084 a second. Kling’s rates were read on 23 September 2026. The Higgsfield page states no resolution, so the two are matched on price alone. Higgsfield’s Kling 3.0 Turbo endpoints run from $0.056 a second, at 720p to 1080p.

For Seedance 2.5, the comparison stops at Higgsfield’s side. ByteDance sells Seedance through Dreamina, CapCut and Lumina, and none of them prints a public per-second rate (Seedance). Its developer platform, BytePlus ModelArk, documents Seedance 2.5 for API use (ModelArk docs), with no per-second rate on that page.

For Veo, Google’s Gemini API is the only route: $0.10 a second for Veo 3.1 Fast at 720p.

The case for Higgsfield’s API is one key and one bill across many makers, each with the same request format. The case for going direct is the maker’s own terms, without a second company’s on top.

Higgsfield’s terms add their own layer. Section 11 covers anyone using the API, MCP or CLI. Three clauses matter for an ad pipeline:

  • Keys stay secret: 11.3 bars embedding them “in client-side or publicly accessible code”.
  • No straight resale: 11.5 bars acting as “a pass-through or service bureau for the Service with no independent value added”.
  • No passing AI off as human: 11.7 says “You shall not represent to End Users or third parties that Outputs are human-generated”.

Commercial use is open. The help centre says API outputs “can go into commercial products, advertising, and client work”. Under 4.4, though, Higgsfield may train on your inputs and outputs unless you hold an Enterprise Agreement. Every plan and use, clause by clause: Higgsfield in the rights matrix.

Eight of 52 public sources say Kling and Seedance clips cost less on Kling or Dreamina directly (YouTube, Reddit). Those reports price the plan’s credits. At the API’s standard rate, Kling 3.0 Standard ties Kling’s own no-audio rate.

On the website and in MCP runs, users report reliability as the weak point. Eight of 52 sources say generations run slow or fail and still cost credits, and some name API and MCP runs (YouTube, Reddit). On the API itself, the help centre says failed requests are not billed.

Questions about the Higgsfield API

Is the Higgsfield API free?

No. It runs on a prepaid dollar balance with a $5 minimum top-up, and every successful request is charged at the model’s listed rate.

Do my Higgsfield plan credits work in the API?

No. The plan and the API bill separately, and a plan “changes nothing about API access or rates”, the help centre says. Plan prices: Higgsfield pricing.

Can several people share one Higgsfield API account?

Yes. The help centre says every account starts as a personal organisation, and you can create a team organisation and invite people to it (API article).

Can the Higgsfield API make audio?

Not on its own. The catalogue has no standalone audio models; Seedance, Kling, LTX and PixVerse can add native audio inside a clip, which changes the rate.

Is there a Higgsfield API for Veo?

No Veo model is listed in the API catalogue. Veo 3.1 runs on the Higgsfield website on plan credits (how to use Higgsfield), and by API through Google.
