Verdict on Foreplay

Foreplay (foreplay.co) suits creative teams who want an ad library and swipe file at a flat price. Basic lists $59 a month on , and 14 of 37 user reviews credit boards that outlive the original ad (G2, G2).

Once you consent, its extension collects browsing activity “such as the domains and URLs you view”, which terms section 4 bars from sale or advertising.

What Foreplay’s ad library and swipe file do

Foreplay is an ad research tool built around a shared swipe file. Its pricing page sells five parts under one login, three of them on Basic.

Foreplay’s five parts and the plan each starts on, from the pricing page’s plan cards and comparison table, read 2 Oct 2026
Part What it does From plan
Swipe File Saves ads with the Chrome extension or mobile app into boards you can share Basic
Discovery Searches ads “curated by the Foreplay community”, sorted by “time running, impressions & more” Basic
Briefs Turns saved ads into briefs, with an “AI Script Generator” Basic
Spyder Tracks competitors: “24/7 Competitor Meta Ad Tracking”, with history “Up to 3 Years” Workflow
Lens Reports on your own Meta and TikTok ad accounts Workflow

Foreplay Creative Scores and the MCP and API connections for Claude and ChatGPT also start on Workflow.

A creator pairs Foreplay boards and competitor ads with an AI workflow built in Growthub Video: 10x Creative Ops With Foreplay and AI, Antonio Romero on YouTube, .

The extension’s Chrome Web Store listing names the Meta Ad Library, TikTok, Instagram, the LinkedIn Ad Library and YouTube Shorts as places it saves from. Saved ads “get stored in the cloud and you have access forever”, the listing says, so a board keeps an ad after the advertiser stops running it.

Section 5 of the terms keeps User Content available “until your account is terminated or the Content is deleted”, and lets Foreplay “remove or modify any Content at our discretion”.

Foreplay’s comparison table calls its ad library “saved by other users”. The plan cards read “Search Ads Database (200M+ Ads)”, and the site menu on the pricing page and homepage reads “Ad search engine with over 100M ads”.

The live “Ad Count” in the pricing page footer read 262,681,037 on 2 October 2026. Of those, 9,465,110 carry the “Live” label, so about 96 per cent no longer run.

What each Foreplay plan costs

Foreplay prices by plan and seats, from Basic at $59 a month to Agency at $459 a month (pricing page, ). Its table says “there is no variable pricing based on your ad spend”, and lists “Unlimited” monthly ad spend for Lens.

Foreplay plans on monthly billing, from the plan cards and comparison table, read 2 Oct 2026

Workflow $175 5 10+ on the card, 15 in the table 1
Agency $459 10 50+ on the card, 50 in the table 10+ on the card, 10 in the table

Extra users cost $20 each, and each extra Lens brand $50. The pricing FAQ puts the yearly discount at “~15%”. Basic falls to $49 a month billed yearly, 17 per cent below its monthly price. Yearly billing also makes Spyder “Unlimited on Annual” on Workflow and Agency (pricing page).

Watch out The 7-day trial takes a card and becomes a paid plan unless you cancel in time (pricing FAQ).

Foreplay’s documents differ on refunds. The pricing FAQ offers a 14-day money-back guarantee “after your first charge”, and says a yearly plan brings no refund on cancellation. The terms say “fees are non-refundable except as required by law” (section 12) and do not mention the guarantee.

The AI ad tool price tracker sets Foreplay’s plans beside other ad tools’ prices.

What the Foreplay Chrome extension collects

Not legal advice This page quotes Foreplay’s Terms of Service, which show no date, as read on 2 October 2026. Ask a lawyer before you rely on any reading here.

Installing the free Foreplay Chrome extension is enough to bind you to the terms: the preamble covers anyone “installing the Chrome extension”.

Section 4 of the terms says the extension “shows you real-time analytics for any web page you view”. To do that, it “collects web browsing activity (such as the domains and URLs you view), ad data, and items you save”.

It asks first. The extension “requests your affirmative consent before collecting browsing activity”, and you may withdraw consent or uninstall at any time.

The same section commits Foreplay to the Chrome Web Store’s Limited Use rules. It uses the data “only to provide and improve these features”, and states: “we do not sell it or use it for advertising”.

Section 6 lets Foreplay build “aggregated, anonymized, and de-identified data” derived “from your use of the Services and from Content and browsing data”. It adds: “Aggregated Data does not identify you or any individual. We own all Aggregated Data and may retain and use it during and after your use of the Services.”

Aggregated Data derived from extension browsing data keeps the same restrictions, with no sale or advertising.

Section 7 adds model training. Foreplay “may use Content, usage data, and Aggregated Data to develop, train, evaluate, and improve machine-learning models and AI-powered features within the Services”. That use is “subject to the limitations in these Terms and our Privacy Policy”, and to the Limited Use rules for extension browsing data.

The terms name no opt-out from model training, and the privacy policy does not mention it.

The Chrome Web Store listing, version 3.3.4, scopes the feature to “real-time brand insights on supported domains”, where section 4 says “any web page you view”. Its privacy section declares one data type, “Website content”.

Who owns the ads you save, under Foreplay’s terms

Foreplay’s terms leave what you create, such as your briefs, with you. Section 9 reads: “You retain all rights and ownership in your User Content.” Section 5 defines User Content as “All content you add, create, upload, submit, or post”.

The terms do not say whether an ad saved from an ad library counts as your User Content. Nor do they grant any right to reuse one. Section 5 has you promise your content “does not infringe third-party rights”, and you access Content “at your own risk”.

On a team account, boards shared by link stay open to their recipients “including after your account terminates” (section 5). The rest of your User Content goes with the account.

If you remake a saved ad with an AI generator, the AI commercial use matrix sets out what each generator’s plans allow in paid ads.

What Foreplay users report

Foreplay’s G2 and Reddit reviewers report on the swipe file, Discovery and Spyder, and rarely mention Lens, the MCP and API access or refunds.

We count 37 public user reviews of Foreplay: 32 from G2 and 5 from Reddit, posted between October 2023 and August 2026. The G2 reviews come from Internet Archive copies of Foreplay’s G2 listing, which showed 127 reviews on 6 September 2026.

Fourteen of the 32 G2 reviews were posted between 18 and 28 May 2024. All 32 carry G2’s “Organic” label, which G2 gives a review “written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate”.

Foreplay’s two Trustpilot reviews come from affiliate partners reporting unpaid commissions. They concern the partner programme, so they stay out of the counts. So do Reddit replies promoting rival tools, which make up most replies in the threads that name Foreplay.

Foreplay pros and cons

Cons

  • Search filters do not always stack, and categories are coarse (5 of 37 sources: G2, G2)
  • Small bugs: the extension stalls, some ads show the wrong active status (4 of 37 sources: G2, G2)
  • Spyder’s brand allowance runs tight on lower plans (3 of 37 sources: G2, G2)
  • A February 2026 double charge on a yearly plan, offered back as credit (2 of 37 sources, in matching words: G2, Reddit)

How Motion and Atria price against Foreplay’s flat plans

Motion (motionapp.com) and Atria also report on your own ad accounts, as Lens does, and Atria adds an ad library. Motion prices by monthly ad spend, and Atria caps the ad spend Core and Plus analyse. The creative research hub’s spend table sets them beside Foreplay’s Workflow at three levels of monthly ad spend, from $10,000 to $100,000.

Motion charges $750 a month for up to $50,000 of monthly ad spend, and $1,200 a month above it (Motion pricing, ). Over $125,000 it moves to Growth, which has no published price.

Foreplay’s Workflow, at $175 a month, sets no spend limit on Lens and connects one brand. Four more Lens brands at $50 each bring five brands to $375, half Motion Starter’s $750 a month, which includes unlimited seats and ad accounts. More in the Motion profile.

Atria has a free plan. Its Core plan lists $159 a month for 5 seats and 50 followed brands, without AI insights (Atria pricing, ). Core covers up to $500,000 of ad spend analysed a month.

Foreplay’s Workflow covers 5 users and 15 Spyder brands in its comparison table (Foreplay pricing). So Core follows 35 more brands for $16 less a month, within its spend cap.

On yearly billing, Core falls to $129 a month billed yearly and Workflow to $149 a month billed yearly, with Spyder unlimited. See the Atria profile.

Minea serves dropshippers: Starter lists $49 a month for Meta ads, product and shop listings and a brand tracker (Minea pricing, ). See the Minea profile.

MagicBrief, another ad library with analytics, shut down on 31 July 2026 (shutdown FAQs). Its team now builds Canva Grow, which MagicBrief’s FAQ calls “not a direct port” (more in the MagicBrief profile).
