Creatify API

By Alexandre S. Published Last checked

Creatify has three ways in: the app, the API and an AI assistant. The app is a website where you click to make an ad video. The API is a way for your own code to order the same kind of video from Creatify with a web request and collect the file later.

The API needs a developer. If you do not code, use the app or the assistant route below.

The API runs on its own plans and its own credits, a balance each video uses up. API Starter is $99 a month for 500 credits. API Pro is $299 a month for 2,000 (billing docs). If every credit is used, a 30-second ad from a product link costs 6 credits, or $1.19 on Starter.

What the API makes

The introduction groups the endpoints, the separate addresses your code calls for each job, by the video they return. A call starts a job, and you collect the file when its status reads done.

  • URL to Video builds an ad from a product page link.
  • AI Avatar, in two versions, puts a presenter and a script on screen. Version 2 builds videos from scenes that each have their own avatar, voice and background.
  • Aurora turns a photo and an audio track into a talking video (the Aurora guide).
  • Boreal makes video from a prompt, an image or an audio track.
  • Custom Templates, Custom Avatar, Ad Clone, the Asset Generator and an HTML Interactive Ad endpoint sit beside them.

The billing page adds smaller calls: text to speech, AI scripts, link creation, AI Shorts and AI editing. The docs mark AI Shorts and AI Editing as deprecated and due for removal. The docs also host a Playground for trying calls in the browser, and a changelog.

What a credit buys, in dollars

The pricing page already prices AI Avatar and Aurora (Creatify pricing). This table prices the rest of the billing page, if every credit is used. Boreal is the lowest here at 3 credits for 30 seconds, and Ad Clone the highest at 72.

One unit of each Creatify API call, at the API plan credit prices
Call Credits API Starter API Pro
Create a link from a product URL 1 $0.20 $0.15
30 seconds of URL to Video, link included 6 $1.19 $0.90
30 seconds of Boreal at 720p 3 $0.59 $0.45
30 seconds of Product Video (marked deprecated in the docs menu) 10 $1.98 $1.50
One HTML Interactive Ad 10 $1.98 $1.50
Ad Clone, 30-second reference ad 72 $14.26 $10.76

Billing steps differ by call. AI Avatar and URL to Video bill in 30-second blocks, Boreal in 10-second blocks and Ad Clone in 5-second blocks of the reference ad.

Two lines in the docs disagree with the billing page. The URL to Video guide states 4 credits per 30 seconds, yet its example shows 5 used and the billing page bills 5. The 4 matches the render step, and the separate preview call states 1. The Ad Clone guide states 72 credits for a 30-second reference, and its example task shows 15 used. The table follows the billing page.

The app against the API for one ad

If every credit is used, a 30-second avatar ad in the app uses 10 credits, which is $2.73 on Standard at $15 a month. On API Starter the same AI Avatar length uses 5 credits, or $0.99. Starter costs $99 a month however few ads you make, and its 500 credits cover 100 of them. Where the app’s plan bands and the API cross is on Creatify pricing.

The app gives you a preview and a web editor (how to use Creatify). The API has its own preview and render calls, and a change means a new request.

Do you need an API plan?

Yes, for code. The MCP route below needs none. The billing page says you subscribe to a plan “to unlock API access and monthly credits”. The quickstart says access needs an active subscription. Neither page says an app plan includes API access.

The billing docs link to a subscribe page, and the API tab on creatify.ai/pricing has a Get Started button for each plan. Keys come from the app: click your account name, open API Dashboard and choose Show API Keys. The Creatify API page leads with a contact form and a demo, and shows no price.

A first request

If you do not write code, hand this section to your developer. The quickstart sends every request to https://api.creatify.ai with two headers, X-API-ID and X-API-KEY. The key works like a password, so it stays on a server and never on a web page. A request without both headers returns a 401 error, which means access refused.

URL to Video takes two calls. The first reads the page, and the second renders from the link it returns.

curl -X POST https://api.creatify.ai/api/links/ \
  -H 'X-API-ID: YOUR_ID' -H 'X-API-KEY: YOUR_KEY' \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"url": "https://example.com/product"}'

curl -X POST https://api.creatify.ai/api/link_to_videos/ \
  -H 'X-API-ID: YOUR_ID' -H 'X-API-KEY: YOUR_KEY' \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"link": "LINK_ID", "aspect_ratio": "9x16", "video_length": 15}'

Ask again with GET /api/link_to_videos/{id}/ until status is done, then read video_output. The FAQ gives link creation under 60 seconds and URL to Video about 5 minutes. AI Avatar takes about 10 seconds per second of video, so 15 seconds takes about 150 seconds.

When a call fails or credits run out

Only calls that create something use credits. The FAQ says GET and list calls do not. GET /api/remaining_credits/ returns your balance.

If the balance is too low, creating a job returns an insufficient credits error. The FAQ’s answers are an add-on pack, a plan upgrade or an enterprise plan, and no add-on price is published.

Refunds depend on the call. The changelog says Aurora, Boreal and Asset Generator tasks that fail or are rejected are refunded automatically, and their files stay for at least 7 days. The URL to Video, AI Avatar and Ad Clone guides name a failed_reason field and give no refund rule. The docs state no credit expiry.

Creatify MCP

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is a standard way for an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude to use an outside tool. Creatify documents one, the Creatify Ad Agent MCP, on its own site and not in the API docs.

It works with ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Cursor and VS Code. You sign in with a Creatify account and approve access. The page says “No API key, and the Free plan works too.” It spends the same credits as the web app, and its setup steps name no API plan.

A video takes a few minutes to render. Free plan exports carry a watermark (free plan article).

Next: Aurora costs and the app plans

Aurora is the API’s talking-photo model, with versions, limits and host prices in Creatify Aurora. The app plans and what a credit costs there are on Creatify pricing.

Questions about the Creatify API

Does Creatify have an API?

Yes. Its docs at docs.creatify.ai cover URL to Video, AI Avatar, Aurora, Boreal, Custom Templates, Ad Clone and the Asset Generator.

How much does the Creatify API cost?

API Starter is $99 a month for 500 credits, and API Pro is $299 a month for 2,000. API Enterprise has custom credits and a contact form.

Where do I get a Creatify API key?

In the app: your account name, then API Dashboard, then Show API Keys. The quickstart says access needs an active subscription.

Does Creatify have an MCP server?

Yes. The Creatify Ad Agent MCP connects ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and other assistants to your Creatify account, with no API key.
