Where can you use Seedance 2.0 and 2.5?

Seedance runs in ByteDance’s Dreamina, Lumina and CapCut, on BytePlus’s API, and inside resellers’ apps. Seedance 2.5 is out: Lumina runs a “Seedance 2.5 Global Launch” banner, and CapCut calls its generator the “Seedance 2.5 AI Video Generator”.

ByteDance’s Seedance 2.5 page promises videos “up to 30 seconds in a single generation, with the option to extend twice”. CapCut rolled out Seedance 2.0 to paid users in phases, reaching the US on 7 April 2026, with clips of up to 15 seconds.

The Seedance API runs on BytePlus ModelArk, which sells Seedance 2.5 token plans valid for three months. BytePlus’s terms hand the model to its provider’s own Model Service Terms (ModelArk 1.1).

Six of the 11 routes allow ads, five of them with conditions. Dreamina, CapCut, the API, Luma and Pika leave ads barred or unclear.

Lumina’s state comes from BytePlus’s terms; its rights matrix row, checked 24 September 2026, reads Unclear. The invideo, JoggAI and HeyGen terms name no separate rule for the models they resell. Each reseller’s profile has its clauses: Luma, Runway, invideo, JoggAI, HeyGen and Higgsfield.

What a Seedance clip costs, route by route

Of the routes in this table that allow ads, invideo Plus has the lowest stated 1080p rate for Seedance 2.5, if every credit is used. That is about half Luma Plus’s rate, where Seedance ads are unclear (3.9). At 720p, Pika Creator costs about 16 per cent more a second than Luma Plus, and Pika’s ad state is Unclear.

Seedance on resellers’ monthly plans, cost a second if every credit is used, rates read 2 Oct 2026
Plan USD a second Version and resolution Credits as listed
Luma Plus $0.234 2.5, 720p 78 a second
Pika Creator $0.271 2.5, 720p 122 per 5 s
JoggAI Starter $0.29 2.5, resolution not stated about 1,200 per 10 s
invideo Plus $0.30 2.5, 1080p about 50 per 5 s
Luma Plus $0.573 2.5, 1080p 191 a second
Runway Standard $0.96 2.0 Pro, 1080p 160 per 4 s

Scroll sideways for all 4 columns

Method: credits a second × the plan’s monthly price ÷ its monthly credits. Luma Plus is $30 a month for 10,000 credits, Pika Creator $35 a month for 3,150, JoggAI Starter $29 a month for 12,000, invideo Plus $60 a month for 2,000 and Runway Standard $15 a month for 625.

The table assumes every generation is kept: 11 of 35 user sources report credits running out faster than plan cards suggest (Reddit, Reddit). JoggAI’s figure rests on its own estimate of about 120 ten-second clips a year.

Unverified Dreamina and Lumina show plan prices only in the browser, and CapCut Pro prices vary by country inside the app (CapCut help). CapCut credits cost $0.01 each (credits help), but no public page gives a Seedance clip’s credit cost.

On 2 October 2026, Lumina’s homepage offers “7 minutes of Seedance 2.5 in 480p for free, plus up to 50% off monthly plans” as a launch bonus.

HeyGen bills Seedance by the clip: 60 credits at 720p and 150 at 1080p, “regardless of length” (credits article). On Pro at $49 a month for 1,000 credits, a 720p clip costs $2.94 if every credit is used.

Higgsfield shows each clip’s exact cost on its Generate button (credits article). Its June 2026 blog puts 15 seconds of Seedance 2.0 at 720p at about 90 credits. Runway’s own credit maths: Runway pricing. Every plan in the database: the price tracker.

Can you run Seedance clips in ads?

Not legal advice This section quotes Dreamina’s general (non-US) terms, BytePlus’s terms for Lumina and resellers’ terms, and reads them as an ad buyer would. Ask a lawyer before you rely on any reading here.

On Lumina, yes, with a visible watermark or equivalent where the use calls for one, and an AI notice. You own the output (AI Terms 2.1), and the advertising ban in BytePlus’s use policy covers unsolicited ads and ads the law prohibits.

Runway’s own terms set no limit on commercial use and do not say whether the maker’s terms also apply. Luma hands Seedance clips to the model maker’s terms in place of its own (3.9). Higgsfield adds the maker’s stricter use policies (s.8).

Dreamina’s general terms bar ads outside the US (s.6); in the US, separate Dreamina US terms apply.

Dreamina’s general terms, outside the US

Dreamina’s Terms of Service, last updated 22 January 2026, say the services are “generally provided for private, non-commercial use” (s.1). Section 6 bars using them “to advertise or perform any commercial solicitation”. Section 7 bars using the services or their content “for any commercial or unauthorized purposes”.

Section 2 says commercial use may fall under “additional terms and policies” for “commercial purposes (if permitted)”. None of the Dreamina pages we read names them, so the rights matrix reads Free as Barred and paid plans as Unclear.

Section 8 lets you own your inputs and outputs if you comply. It also grants ByteDance “and other users of the Platform a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive … right and licence to use your Assets for any purpose”. Perpetual and irrevocable: the licence does not end when your plan or campaign does.

Dreamina in the US

Dreamina’s general (non-US) terms say a US user’s “use of the Platform is governed by the Dreamina US Terms of Service instead of these Terms”. Both Dreamina terms URLs served the general version on 2 October 2026, with or without a US region in the address. Ad use from a US account is unclear.

Lumina, ByteDance’s business route

Lumina’s sign-up notice says it serves “professional or business purposes, not for consumer use”.

The General Terms for AI Services (28 August 2026) say that “To the extent permitted by applicable law”, “you own the Output generated in response to your Input, and BytePlus does not claim ownership of such Output” (2.1). Outside feedback or written consent, BytePlus “will not use your Customer Data to train the foundation models underlying the AI Services” (3.3).

The Lumina section of the Service Specific Terms (30 September 2026) sets the condition for output made “available externally”. You “shall, as appropriate to the nature of the Output and the applicable use case, use a visible watermark provided by Lumina, its own visible watermark, or other means of equivalent effect”.

Removing Lumina’s invisible watermark is barred. The terms do not say whether a platform’s own AI label counts as “other means of equivalent effect”.

The Acceptable Use Policy (30 September 2026) asks for “appropriate notices that users are interacting with an AI and that content is AI generated” (v). Its advertising ban covers “unsolicited or unauthorized advertising or promotional materials”, listed beside junk mail and spam. It also bars advertising that applicable law prohibits, with “betting and gambling, online gaming” as examples (item b).

Seedance on resellers’ terms

A reseller’s terms govern your account there, except where they hand Seedance clips to the model’s maker. Luma makes third-party models “subject to the third party’s terms and conditions and not this Agreement” (terms 3.9). Its 4.9 assignment “does not include any right, title, or interest in Output of any third party”.

Higgsfield adds a provider’s “acceptable-use or prohibited-use policies” “where those policies are more restrictive” (terms s.8). Neither Luma nor Higgsfield says whether that means Dreamina’s terms, whose general (non-US) version bars ads, or BytePlus’s, which allow ads with conditions.

Runway “does not restrict your commercial use of your Outputs” (terms 4.4) and names no rule for the models it hosts: 10.4 says only that materials “hosted by another party” are accessed at your own risk.

Studio characters and real faces

Disney sent ByteDance a cease-and-desist letter over Seedance 2.0 on 13 February 2026, and Paramount Skydance sent one the next day, Variety reported. Disney’s letter describes “a pirated library of Disney’s copyrighted characters from Star Wars, Marvel, and other Disney franchises”.

Prompts naming studio characters fall under s.6 of Dreamina’s non-US terms, which bars any use that “violates or infringes on any third party’s rights of publicity, privacy, copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights”.

A ByteDance spokesperson told Variety: “We are taking steps to strengthen current safeguards as we work to prevent the unauthorized use of intellectual property and likeness by users.” Users report the filters: 10 of 35 sources describe face filters rejecting ordinary photos (Reddit, Reddit).

Is the Seedance AI on G2 and Trustpilot made by ByteDance?

No. The “Seedance AI” at seedance.ai says on its pricing page: “We are Seedance (SeedDance) AI Community and have no affiliation with ByteDance.” Its FAQ adds “we do not provide the ‘Seedance’ AI model”, and its menu lists Kling, Veo, MiniMax H3 and Wan. Plans start at $19.90 a month billed annually.

Its terms name Seedance AI Community as the operator, under Singapore law. G2 and Capterra list it as “Seedance AI” (G2, Capterra), and Trustpilot files its reviews under seedance.ai.

ByteDance’s own consumer reviews sit on Trustpilot’s Dreamina page, which showed 24 reviews and a TrustScore of 1.7 on 2 October 2026.

What users report about Seedance

Users praise Seedance’s motion and acting (4 of 35 sources) and complain most about credit drain (11) and face filters (10). The synthesis counts 35 public sources from 23 January to 12 September 2026. Of these, 18 are r/seedance threads, drawn from 1,082 posts archived since 28 September 2025, with 14 Trustpilot reviews of Dreamina and 3 YouTube reviews.

On long takes the reports split: 2 sources praise fewer retakes, and 5 say long takes lose coherence (Reddit). One reviewer calls 30-second generations “not going to be production or advertisement ready” (YouTube).

Curious Refuge runs Seedance 2.5 through 30-second takes, a spec ad among them, and points out artifacting, banding and a face that changes late in a take Video: Seedance 2.5 Is Incredible... Until It Isn’t, Curious Refuge on YouTube, .

Seedance (ByteDance) pros and cons

Pros

  • Motion, physics and acting closer to film than rival models in side-by-side comparisons (4 of 35 sources: YouTube, Reddit)
  • Follows detailed prompts and many references, keeping characters consistent through a take (3 of 35 sources: Reddit, YouTube)
  • Dialogue and sound effects in sync with the picture (2 of 35 sources: Reddit, YouTube)
  • Seedance 2.5’s 30-second takes leave fewer retakes (2 of 35 sources: YouTube, YouTube)
  • On Lumina you own the output as far as the law allows (AI Terms 2.1)
  • BytePlus trains no foundation model on Lumina data outside feedback or written consent (AI Terms 3.3)

Cons

  • Credits go faster than plan cards suggest, so each usable clip costs more (11 of 35 sources: Reddit, Reddit)
  • Face and real-person filters reject ordinary photos, AI faces and cartoon faces (10 of 35 sources: Reddit, Reddit)
  • Long takes and extensions lose coherence, and on-screen text gets misspelt (5 of 35 sources: YouTube, Reddit)
  • Accounts banned or locked over policy flags with no recourse (5 of 35 sources: Reddit, Trustpilot)
  • Dreamina charges after cancelling, delivers tokens late and leaves tickets unanswered (5 of 35 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot)
  • Paid Dreamina plans still stamp an AI mark on downloads (4 of 35 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot)
  • Access and price differ by platform and region (3 of 35 sources: Reddit, Reddit)
  • Dreamina’s general (non-US) terms bar using it “to advertise” (s.6) and license your assets to other users (s.8) (terms)
  • Lumina output made public needs a visible watermark or equivalent where the use calls for one, and an AI notice (Service Specific Terms, AUP v)

Seedance AI alternatives: Kling, Google Veo or Runway

Runway’s terms set no limit on ad use of its own models. Kling allows ads with conditions for members, while the membership runs (3.1.2), and ad use of Google Veo’s Flow clips is unclear.

Kling members can use output “for any commercial purpose” except building competing products (paid terms 3.1.2). Kling’s terms also bar using the Services “to advertise” without written consent (3.1(d)), and do not say whether membership lifts that. Without a membership, commercial use needs Kling’s written permission (4.6). More in the Kling AI profile.

Google Veo bills a Veo 3.1 Fast clip of 4 to 8 seconds at 20 Flow credits (Flow credits help). On Google AI Pro at $19.99 a month (Google AI plans), that is $0.40 a clip if every credit is used (). Ad use of Flow clips is unclear: see the Google Veo profile.

Runway sells its own Gen-4.5 beside Seedance, at $0.29 per second of video on Standard at $15 a month if every credit is used (pricing page). Its terms take a licence to train on outputs (Runway profile).
