Runpod referral code and free credits
Runpod has no coupon codes. Its sign-up bonus comes through a referral link instead. You create a new account with Google through a Runpod referral link, add $10, and Runpod adds a one-time credit of $5 to $500 (Runpod referral docs).
The person whose link you use earns a bonus too, set by where they live.
The size is random (referral docs). Most new users get $5, about 96% get $10 or less, and users in Europe get a flat $5.
| Route | What you get | Who qualifies |

How does the Runpod referral bonus work?
The bonus goes to brand-new users who meet four conditions, all set out in Runpod’s referral docs:
- You are a first-time Runpod user. An email that already had an account, even a deleted one, does not qualify.
- You signed up after 15 June 2025.
- You sign up with Google. Runpod’s docs say “Referrals who sign up through any other method are not eligible for rewards.”
- You load the minimum first payment. The bonus is awarded only after that load.
Referral, affiliate, and creator programs
Minimum load They must load at least $10 onto their account. The bonus credits are awarded only after this minimum $10 load.
Sign-up method They must sign up using Google SSO. Referrals who sign up through any other method are not eligible for rewards.
Amount European customers receive a fixed $5 bonus. Non-European customers receive a random weighted bonus between $5 and $500.
The docs set no expiry date for the bonus credit. Your own location sets your bonus: live in Europe and you get the flat amount. If you live outside Europe, you get the random bonus even when the link comes from someone in Europe.
How to claim the Runpod sign-up credit
Have the Google account you want to use signed in first. Open a Runpod referral link in that browser (ours sits behind every button on this page) and choose to sign up with Google; an email-and-password account gets no bonus.
Then open Billing and add at least $10 in credit. The bonus lands in your balance once that first load is paid. Your own link sits on the Refer and earn page, with the terms both people get.
What the Runpod credit buys on a rented GPU
Credit pays for GPU time: rented graphics cards, billed by the second while your pod (the rented computer) runs. The smallest bonus buys hours, at the list rates on Runpod’s pricing page.
| GPU and cloud | Price an hour (USD) | Time the bonus buys |
|---|---|---|
| RTX 4090, Secure Cloud | $0.89 | 5 h 37 min |
| RTX 4090, Community Cloud | $0.34 | 14 h 42 min |
| RTX 5090, Secure Cloud | $1.19 | 4 h 12 min |

Secure Cloud and Community Cloud are Runpod’s two pod tiers; Community Cloud rents cards from third-party hosts, for less (Runpod pricing).
On our own Runpod account, on 17 October 2026, an RTX 4090 made one FLUX 3 Klein fast image in about 28.5 seconds. FLUX 3 Klein fast is a quick version of the FLUX image model.
At that speed, the smallest bonus pays for about 710 ad images. It buys 20,225 seconds of a Secure Cloud 4090 (5 ÷ 0.89 × 3,600). Divided by 28.5 seconds an image, that is about 710. Each image costs $0.007.
Setting up that first pod is the ComfyUI on Runpod guide; every card’s rate sits in Runpod pricing.
Is Runpod free? No free tier and no free trial
Runpod has no free tier and no free trial. Pods bill by the second, and an on-demand pod starts only when your balance covers one hour of the card you picked (pod pricing docs).
At a zero balance, Runpod stops your pods. A pod with no network volume, the separate drive that keeps your files, is deleted with everything on it. Outside the startup and academic programmes, the referral bonus is the only free credit.
Runpod startup credits and student discounts
Runpod’s startup programme has two tiers. Starter gives pre-Series A startups with a working product $1,000 in credits and self-serve onboarding. Growth fits venture-backed teams spending $5,000 to $25,000 or more a month on GPUs, with $50,000 paid upfront under a 12-month agreement.
Runpod says venture backing is “strongly preferred”. For bootstrapped and pre-funding teams, the page points to self-serve, pay-as-you-go access.
Runpod publishes no student discount. Its academic research page mentions “educational pricing” with no figures. Universities and labs come first, individual students are reviewed case by case, and Runpod says it replies within 7 to 10 business days.
What you earn when someone uses your Runpod link
Every account gets a referral link. When a new user qualifies, you earn a one-time bonus too, set by where you live.
You also earn a 3% commission on their pod spend and 5% on their Serverless spend for their first six months (referral docs). Serverless is Runpod’s pay-per-request option that starts a card only while a job runs. “Referral commissions are based on actual usage, not purchases”, the docs add.
After 25 paying referrals you can switch to the affiliate programme: 10% in cash on referral spend for six months, through PartnerStack (referral docs). The docs call that switch permanent. The Runpod hub lists every page we have on running ad images and video there.
Runpod credit questions, answered in a line
Is there a Runpod coupon code?
No. Runpod issues no coupon or promo codes. The sign-up bonus comes only through a referral link, on a new Google account that adds the minimum first load.
Does Runpod give free credits?
Yes, two ways: the one-time referral bonus for new users, and the startup programme’s credits for startups that Runpod accepts into it.
How much is the Runpod referral bonus?
It is random between the smallest and largest amounts in the table above. Most new users get the smallest one, and users in Europe always get it.
Do Runpod referral credits expire?
Runpod’s referral docs set no expiry date for the bonus credit.
Can I get the Runpod bonus without a Google account?
No. The docs make Google sign-up a condition; any other sign-up method earns no reward.
Does Runpod have a student discount?
No published one. Students can apply through the academic research page, which Runpod reviews case by case.
