Checkout appears in a quarter of AI agent visits, Clarity finds
Microsoft’s free analytics tool compared website visits involving AI agents with visits by people alone, and opened a dashboard that labels agent traffic.
Checkout was the action Microsoft Clarity logged most often in website visits that involved an AI agent: it turned up in 25.21 per cent of them, against 14.65 per cent of visits by people on their own. Clarity, Microsoft’s free analytics tool, set out the comparison on 29 October 2026 on its blog, alongside an Agent Activity Dashboard now open to sites that receive agent traffic.
The sample runs from 13 August to 9 September across 230,511 Clarity projects. Microsoft classed a visit as agent-driven when Clarity spotted a browsing agent from the Anthropic, Google or OpenAI camps, and it counts more than 5.2 million such visits. It adds that agent visits grew 88 per cent in three weeks. Form submissions were almost level, 19.85 per cent for agent visits and 18.56 per cent for people, while people clicked out to other sites far more often, 26.99 per cent against 14.28 per cent.
Microsoft names the catch itself: when a person takes the wheel from an agent mid-visit, Clarity still logs a single visit. A checkout in these figures therefore shows only that it happened while an agent was involved, with no proof that the agent bought anything on its own. PPC Land works out that the 306,621 checkout visits behind the headline rate imply a base of roughly 1.2 million visits, under a quarter of the 5.2 million.
Two of those three camps sell their assistants for about $20 a month: Google AI Pro at $19.99 and Claude Pro at $20 on our 1 November check.
Since Clarity cannot split agent clicks from the human clicks that follow, a shop whose new dashboard shows agent visits reaching checkout learns where agents bring shoppers, and still has no count of orders an agent placed by itself.
