HeyGen vs invideo AI
Verdict: HeyGen or invideo AI
For talking-avatar ads in 175+ languages, HeyGen; for stock-and-voice edits and Seedance clips under 10 seconds, invideo AI. A 30-second avatar ad costs $0.10 to $1.16 on HeyGen Creator if every credit is used (checked ), and invideo publishes no avatar rate.
The catch: HeyGen’s paid-plan licence covers training its models on your content, and invideo can change credit costs “without prior notice”.
HeyGen
- Best for
- Localising one ad script into many languages, cheap avatar minutes for talking-head ads, and founder or spokesperson clones on a paid plan.
- Not for
- Anyone planning to run ads made on the free plan, which the terms forbid, and advertisers of alcohol, online gambling or weapons, which the moderation policy bans.
invideo AI
- Best for
- Marketers who want a finished, edited video with stock, voice and generated shots in one tool, plus terms that rule out training on their data.
- Not for
- Buyers who need credit costs fixed for the plan’s term (invideo may change them
at any time, without prior notice
), or Seedance 2.5 on the $20 Starter plan, which excludes it.

Which costs less: avatar minutes or generated clips?
HeyGen for avatar minutes, since invideo prints no avatar rate. For Seedance, invideo Starter costs less only below about 10 seconds a clip.
HeyGen charges a flat 60 credits for a 720p Seedance 2.0 video “regardless of length” (credits article, read 2 October 2026). Its pricing page names “the Seedance 2.0 engine” on Pro, so the table prices it on Pro. invideo bills Seedance 2.0 Fast in 5-second steps of about 30 credits (pricing page).

Method: plan price divided by plan credits, times the credits each vendor states for the output. A 15-second invideo Starter clip is $4.50, above HeyGen Pro’s flat rate. The two Seedance rows are different tiers of the model, so they compare price, never output.
invideo’s Plus card strikes its monthly price. It shows the yearly rate with a “40% off” pill and no end date (pricing page, read 2 October 2026).

What each makes for an ad
HeyGen makes presenter videos from avatars and your own digital twin; invideo assembles edited videos around stock footage and generated shots.
HeyGen Creator includes one custom digital twin and translation into 175+ languages. Its Video Agent bills 40 credits a minute in Standard mode and 120 in Seedance mode (credits article).
invideo AI turns a prompt or script into a cut with stock footage, voice-over and captions. Its UGC Ads page takes a product or app link and pulls the product details and images into UGC-style ads. Starter includes 100 premium stock clips; the pricing FAQ charges third-party models “at their original API pricing”.
Users report that much of the “AI video” is stock footage assembled by AI, and that free exports carry a watermark (6 of 42 sources: YouTube, YouTube).
Who may train on your content
HeyGen, on paid plans; invideo rules it out in its terms.
HeyGen’s terms (last updated 23 July 2026) grant it a licence over your content on Creator, Pro and Business that covers using it “to train or otherwise improve or modify our artificial intelligence and machine learning models” (s.3).
Section 4, for the Free plan, grants no content licence and does not mention training. Enterprise runs on negotiated terms that are not public.
invideo’s terms (effective 8 July 2026) say it “will not use your User Data to train or fine-tune” its models (4(f)). Custom avatars on invideo need your recordings and a separate consent “for that purpose” (4(e)).
If you upload unreleased packaging or a founder’s face, this clause decides the choice.
What each plan lets you run in paid ads
HeyGen’s paid plans allow ads with conditions and its Free plan bars them; invideo’s licence covers every plan.
HeyGen leaves Creator, Pro and Business output free for “commercial purposes” (s.3). Section 4 bars Free output from “commercial activities, advertising, client work”. Section 2 bars “representing that the User Output is entirely human generated”. The moderation policy (3.1) bars promoting weapons, alcohol, online gambling and commercial sex.
A custom-avatar actor can ask for removal, and you must honour it “wherever you have published such depictions” (2.1). One request can pull every live ad with that face.
invideo grants a “perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free” licence to “commercialise Outputs you generate” (4(h)), naming no plan. Its usage policy (6.2) bars using licensed content so that an actor “personally endorses, uses or is affiliated with you or your products”, which rules out testimonial scripts on stock media.

Credits, price changes and refunds
HeyGen credits roll over one month and payments are final; invideo credits lapse each month, with a 7-day refund if none were used.
HeyGen’s pricing FAQ rolls monthly credits over “for one more month” while you pay. Yearly plans pay credits out month by month (plans article). Payments are “non-refundable, except where required by law” (s.7(d)).
Users report per-minute credit costs rising in August and September 2026 without notice (7 of 39 sources: Trustpilot, Trustpilot).
invideo’s credits do not roll over, and its pricing FAQ reserves “the right to update credit costs at any time, without prior notice”. Its terms refund within 7 days of buying or renewing if no credits or premium features were used (3(d)).
