Klaviyo’s free plan holds 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month, with no end date. The Email plan starts at $20 a month for 251 to 500 profiles, and Email + SMS at $35 a month. Read as a rate at each tier’s ceiling, the price per 1,000 profiles falls from $40 at 500 to $15 at 10,000. Past that the discount nearly stops: $14.40 at 50,000.

Each tier allows ten sends a month per profile at its ceiling, about two a week to everyone. The tiers are uneven in width, so check where your own count lands. The price table for all 15 email tools sets Klaviyo’s curve beside the others.
What the Klaviyo free plan allows
Klaviyo Free covers 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month. It adds $5 of text-message credit and $5 of Composer usage a month, the AI subject line generator, basic segments and reporting (Klaviyo pricing).
The send cap is the tight part. Divide 500 sends by 250 profiles: two emails a month to a full list, before any flow fires. Past either cap the FAQ says your account “will no longer be able to send additional emails or messages until the next billing cycle”.
Support is short too. Free accounts get “Email support for first 60 days”, then self-help pages only.
Is there a Klaviyo annual discount or free trial?
No to both. The billing article says all Klaviyo plans bill monthly, and no annual discount appears on the pricing page. There is no time-limited trial; the free plan stands in for one.
The one deal is a promotion on the first month. On the date we checked, , a banner took $19 off the first month at the 500-profile tier only. Larger tiers pay list price from day one.
What moves you to the next tier
Klaviyo counts active profiles: anyone with an email address who is not suppressed from email. Unsubscribes, bounces and spam complaints drop out once suppression is processed. A phone number alone does not count on the Email plan (billing article, updated 20 October 2026).
The count that matters is the one at the end of each cycle. Go past your tier and Klaviyo moves you up automatically.
The move back down is manual. After a clean-up the plan stays where it is unless you pick a lower tier or switch on auto-downgrade. The count can take up to 72 hours to refresh. A store that deletes dormant profiles should check its tier in the next cycle.
Bot sign-ups push the count up. A fake address that completes your pop-up becomes an active profile. The Klaviyo profile covers the seven reviews and threads that report bills jumping that way.
What Klaviyo charges for SMS, the AI agent and extras
SMS starts with Email + SMS at $35 a month for 251 to 500 profiles, $15 above the Email plan at that tier. Beyond it, SMS is priced on a separate slider by country and volume, so the larger tiers have no single figure (Klaviyo pricing).
Composer, the AI marketing agent, is an add-on at $20 a month for four times the free usage. Extra usage comes in $10 steps.
Customer Agent, the AI that answers shoppers, includes 50 free resolutions a month; the paid rate is set on a slider on the pricing page.
A dedicated IP is a sending address no other sender shares. Klaviyo gives one only to “Klaviyo managed accounts that meet certain sending criteria” and states no price (help article, updated 31 March 2026).

The free plan writes subject lines. The paid Email plan adds the rest of the writing and segment AI.

The Email plan card lists “AI-generated segments, content, and images” with no usage limit stated, plus predictive analytics.
Clause 8.1 of the Terms of Service (updated 17 December 2025) bars third-party foundation models from training on your data. The terms say nothing about Klaviyo’s own models.
