What Omnisend is

Omnisend is an email marketing platform built for online shops. You collect sign-ups with pop-up forms, then send campaigns and automated flows: a welcome series, an abandoned-cart reminder, a thank-you after an order. It also sends SMS and web push (the small browser alerts a shopper agrees to on your site).

Its biggest public review base is the Shopify App Store listing: 3,200 reviews on 1 November 2026, most of them five-star (2,855).

The AI email marketing hub sets Omnisend beside the 14 other email tools we track.

What Omnisend costs at your list size

Omnisend bills by contacts, and the price climbs in tiers. Standard is the cheaper paid plan at every list size below, and it undercuts Klaviyo’s Email plan at each step.

The gap widens as the list grows. At 50,000 contacts Standard costs $413 a month and Klaviyo’s Email plan $720 (Omnisend pricing).

Pro costs more and lifts Standard’s cap of 12 times your list to fair use of 60 times. At 2,500 contacts it costs $59 a month, against $44 for Standard; at 50,000 it reaches $715. The Omnisend pricing page lists every tier, the three-month discount and the SMS rates.

Who Omnisend counts, and how much you can send

The sticker price leaves out two rules. The first is who counts. The pricing page says: “You’re billed for subscribers and non-subscribers who received automated messages. Unsubscribed contacts aren’t billed.”

That matters for a store. A shopper who buys without opting in, then gets an order follow-up flow, joins your bill. One Canadian store owner says Omnisend charged for more contacts than Klaviyo had for the same shop (Shopify App Store). So compare the counts as well as the price per tier.

The second rule is the sending cap. Standard allows 12 times your list size in emails a month, about three emails a week to each contact. Pro is listed as unlimited, with fair use up to 60 times the list (Omnisend pricing).

Which Omnisend plan has the AI features

Omnisend puts its writing AI on the free plan. The AI page’s FAQ says the free plan gets help with “subject line generation, content writing, segmentation, and form creation”, and it names no usage limit (Omnisend AI).

The shopping AI costs more. The product recommender, dynamic content (blocks that change by who reads them) and personalised sending time come with Pro. On Standard each is an add-on from $5 a month, rising with the list (Omnisend pricing).

Omnisend's pricing page at 251 to 500 contacts: Free at 0 dollars with 500 emails and 250 contacts, Standard at 11.20 dollars a month with 6,000 emails, Pro at 41.30 dollars with unlimited emails and the Omnisend Agent Pro tools

The forms assistant is split. Its how-to answer tells paid plans to “select Continue with AI when creating forms”, so the page lists form creation for Free in one answer and for paid plans in another.

Omnisend also runs an MCP server. MCP is a standard that lets an assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude read your account and act on it. The AI page says you can create campaigns from the chat. It names no plan for it.

Terms clause 11.7 lets Omnisend “change, limit or discontinue” any AI feature at any time, including when a third-party AI provider changes its terms.

Does Omnisend train AI on your list

The terms do not say. Omnisend’s Terms of Use, last updated 30 April 2026, contain no sentence that allows or bars training AI models on your contacts or emails.

Two clauses come close. Clause 10.6 says Omnisend “may view, copy, and internally distribute content” from your account “to create algorithms and programs” that spot problem accounts.

We may view, copy, and internally distribute content from your Target Communications and account to create algorithms and programs (“Tools”) that help us spot problem accounts.

Clause 10.7 grants it a perpetual licence to data derived from non-personally identifiable Target Data, for “benchmarking, statistical, research and marketing analyses” (Terms of Use).

What you write with the AI is yours. Clause 11.3 says the customer “owns all AI Outputs generated for Customer’s account”. The guide to which email tools train AI sets this answer beside the other 14 tools.

Deliverability and account suspensions

Deliverability means whether your emails reach the inbox or land in spam. It sits behind 11 of the 56 newest negative Shopify App Store reviews: six on suspensions and five on emails that fail.

Six of the 56 newest negative Shopify App Store reviews describe a suspension at sign-up or after unusual sending (Shopify App Store, Shopify App Store). One store says Omnisend froze its account “Before we ever sent a single email”. Omnisend’s public replies say the suspensions followed compliance checks of unusual activity or suspicious content.

Five reviews in the same sample report emails in spam or failing to deliver after a large list import (Shopify App Store, Shopify App Store). Clean an imported list before the first send.

A dedicated IP gives you a sending address no other sender shares. Omnisend recommends one from 300,000 emails a week and asks for your volume and spam figures before granting it (Omnisend Help Center).

Omnisend reviewers praise ease of use and question the contact bill

On 1 November 2026 we read the 56 newest one- and two-star Shopify App Store reviews and the 60 newest four- and five-star ones. Four Reddit threads add to them. The counts below come from those two samples.

Ease of use leads the praise: 17 of the 60 newest positive reviews mention it (Shopify App Store, Shopify App Store). One owner finds it “way less intimidating” than Klaviyo.

Price leads the complaints. 22 of the 56 newest negative reviews object to a bill that grows with contacts, whatever you send (Shopify App Store, Shopify App Store). Support splits the sample: 10 positive reviews praise it, and 7 negative ones call it slow on deliverability and billing.
